  1. Review - Google Chrome for Windows

    4.0.201.1 Beta (Aug 18, 2009)

"Chrome creates a unique ID through which a user can be theoretically identified. Chrome remembers up to the second exactly when the software was installed. Depending on the configuration, each time you put something in the address line, this information is sent to Google to provide suggestions. Depending on the configuration, if you have typed a false address in the adress bar, this is sent to Google and you get an error message from Google's servers. Depending on the configuration, details about crashes or failures are sent Google's servers. RLZ-Tracking Chrome-function transmits information in encoded form to Google, for example, when and where Chrome has been downloaded. Chrome installs a updater, which loads at every Windows in background. URL-Tracker calls depending on the configuration five seconds after launch the Google homepage opens in background. This is the worlds largest tracking and privacy cookie in the history of spyware wrapped into an innovative and feature rich package. Use SRWare's Iron browser, all the next generation features and absolutely non of the privacy/tracking garbage. It even features an updated webkit and java engine making it faster than Chrome!!"

    I agree !

  2. Review - AntiVir Personal Edition for Windows

    9.0.0.386 (Mar 20, 2009)

    I tested so far:
KAV (AVP), NOD32 v2,3,4, McAfee Antivirus, Arcavir, Trend Micro Office Scan, Norton AV (various versions), F-Prot v5 + DOS version and Avira (8 and 9) of course (including premium).

    I recommend Avira because:
    - highest detecion level (beats even Kaspersky!)
    LOOK THERE: www.av-comparatives.org
    - fast scanning
    - free for personal use
    - fast response from support
    - it needs small amount of resources
    - premium users can download a rescue cd
    - no problems with installation and running (like BSOD etc.)

  3. Review - Realtek High Definition Audio Codecs for Windows

    2.18 (Mar 10, 2009)

Here is a megaupload mirror of "Realtek HD Audio Codec Driver v 2.18" for WinXP

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XFZZ0G5C

I had to zip the file, because someone uploaded (on megaupload) a file "WDM_R218.exe" which is 1.09 version of driver (from year 2004).

  4. Review - Realtek High Definition Audio Codecs for Windows

    2.15 (Feb 10, 2009)

    Generally very good, but:

    1. Run: START/Run.../msconfig and startup menu. Disable startup of ALCMTR.exe which is considered spyware.

    2. Mirrors are SLOW, really! Grab WDM_R215.exe from there:
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PHRHOJYQ

    MD5: c3ef7b1570f91fd3615cedbd20f5114a
    CRC32: 017FD6B1

    3. Sometimes, after updating and rebooting my mic refused to work. Just unplug and plug it again.

  5. Comment - MP3 Goes 5.1 Channel

    2.15 (Dec 6, 2004 - 7:23 AM)

Ogg Vorbis is a general purpose perceptual audio CODEC intended to allow maximum encoder flexibility, thus allowing it to scale competitively over an exceptionally wide range of bitrates. At the high quality/bitrate end of the scale (CD or DAT rate stereo, 16/24 bits), it is in the same league as MPEG-2 and MPC. Similarly, the 1.0 encoder can encode high-quality CD and DAT rate stereo at below 48kpbs without resampling to a lower rate. Vorbis is also intended for lower and higher sample rates (from 8kHz telephony to 192kHz digital masters) and a range of channel representations (monaural, polyphonic, stereo, quadraphonic, 5.1, ambisonic, or up to 255 discrete channels). Ogg Vorbis is supported by: Foobar2000 - any version, Winamp since 2.79 or 2.80 STANDARD, XMMS since I don`t know when ;) Lastest Vorbis supports ~32kbps 44.1KHz Stereo. Lastest version is: Vorbis 1.1 aoTuV beta 3
