This makes IE (a necessary evil) bearable. Having the ability to run user scripts (like Grease Monkey) makes it more seamless to switch between browsers. I just wish there was a better way to share favorites between the two (Plain Old Favorites is helpful but not perfect).
6.5 Build 118166 (Sep 25, 2008)
Keeps getting better. I'm pretty excited about the "Unity" feature, but it seems to slow things down a bit.
There may be some free workstation VM products, but the performance and features are still lagging VMWare for now.
One other option if you're not adverse to spending money is Windows 2008 HyperV. The performance is amazing and with some setup, Win 2008 isn't too bad as a desktop OS (or just run your "workstation" in a VM).
0.2.149.27 Beta (Sep 2, 2008)
REALLY solid for a beta. To those complaining it lacks features, read this for an explanation of what it's purpose is: http://blogoscoped.com/google-chrome/
2007 SP1 (May 16, 2008)
Not VMWare Workstation, but it's free. I think I'm going to give VirtualBox a try...
Here's all I could find about what's new in SP1:
Additonal Guest Operating System support:
Windows Vista® Ultimate Edition SP1
Windows Vista® Business Edition SP1
Windows Vista® Enterprise Edition SP1
Windows Server® 2008 Standard
Windows XP Professional SP3
Additional Host Operating System support:
Windows Vista® Ultimate Edition SP1
Windows Vista® Business Edition SP1
Windows Vista® Enterprise Edition SP1
Windows XP Professional with SP3
4.0 Preview (Mar 28, 2008)
Looks like some good improvements for the enterprise, but nothing the average Joe needs to worry about.

The P2P-like feature might be opening a big can of worms support and security-wise.

Since many of the new features depend on Outlook 2010, has anyone heard if it's going to be release ahead of the rest of Office? Last I heard Office 2010 was due around June... ~7 months is a big gap between the server and the client.
Not that the server doesn't have a lot of cool features on it's own, but it's hard to sell management on cool new features they're not going to see for months.

I had the same problem with Google Maps on my Fuze. They really need to have it cache your whole route when you start navigating somewhere.
I've used Bing for Windows Mobile too and it has a lot of the same features. I find it a bit easier to look up the location I want (it has voice input).
My wife has a GPS that has Navteq data and while the maps match reality, the unit is pretty dumb sometimes about what route to take (not to mention the interface is very frustrating). So there's more to the GPS game than data. I'm pretty tempted by this phone to replace it.

I like the B&N reader. I haven't seriously started shopping for an ereader, but if I had friends with the Nook, I think the sharing feature is worth a couple bucks higher per book. The unbelievable thing for me is the lack of computer related ebooks on B&N. Who do they think are going to be the first ones to buy these things?

Get a grip people. They're music players not religions.

Certainly having the "free Office" option actually be Office rather than Office Web Apps (or Works) will reduce the sheer number of people using the online option, but I don't think it will mean that Google Apps wins. If people buy a PC and it comes with Office for free, then they're going to use that and not one of the other free options. So then if they need an online option as well, they'll be more likely to choose the one that looks like their desktop software.
