11.7 Build 26 (Apr 14, 2009)
have not yet tried Avant Browser nor will I give it a try for the following reason. I will not use a piece of software that compares itself to other software and makes false allegations about that software. The mouse zoom on IE8 works just fine for me. In the product description, it claims that the mouse zoom does not work. Hmmm !. Not for me.
I suggest you edit your post Dana as it is not comparing itself to IE8. There is a bug for the mouse zoom which has been fixed for IE7 users but not IE8 users.
Avant is probably one of the best, if not the best, IE based browsers. Rating it down when you havent even used it because you misread a bit of text in the changelog isnt helping anyone.
3.40 (Jan 28, 2009)
Had to go back to 3.38 as 3.40 crashes computer on x64. As does fineprint 6.05 (6.04 is fine). Quite a few are reporting this problem
3.8.61948.459 Beta (Jan 24, 2009)
The changelog for the betas is in the beta section of their forum.
I have found that the current beta has a few issues for me. It doubles the startup/shutdown time and blocks programs (avant browser for example gets blocked sometimes but not everytime) despite permissions being given. These are not issues with the non beta version.
The progress looks good but this beta is not quite ready to use on a your main install. I
6.05 (Jan 20, 2009)
6.05 x64 version is broken (as mentioned below). It crashes when printing from 32 bit applications. Stick with 6.04 for now.
I took another look at Pri and couldnt find multiple letterhead support and the quality of the logo (in bmp form) was lower than that I could achieve on fineprint. I believe that for many people, the two pieces of software are really aimed at different target markets but have a few overlaps which may catch a few people in the middle.
1.5.1.626 (Jan 18, 2009)
Diamond, you have reviewed this product 5 times and given it 5 stars each time. That is out of 12 reviews made in total. It is clear you are boosting the score on purpose. Perhaps you have some link to the developer?
I will stick with fineprint, although I did give the latest version of this another go but it didnt handle pdfs in the way I wanted or give me the features that I wanted. Despite certain individuals posting on the fineprint thread that it did.
1.5.1.626 (Feb 16, 2006 - 5:09 PM)
I really prefer using the Office "2006" beta to the older versions. Whilst the last few releases have had little differences visually, this one changes the interface big time and, as already mentioned, things which used to take a lot of time and effort can be done on single click (headers/footers, contents, cover page).
