  1. Review - Transmute

    1.62 (Oct 10, 2009)

Pointless. I have yet to come across a browser that will not export or import its bookmarks.

  2. Review - Google Chrome for Windows

    4.0.220.1 Beta (Oct 2, 2009)

I use the basic Chrome (ie non-Google version) and it is very nice. There is a branch called 'ChromePlus' that has mouse gestures amongst other things.

4* as I miss a permanent bookmark side bar.

  3. Review - Linux Mint

    7.0 "Gloria" (Oct 2, 2009)

Agree with all the 5* comments here. It's an aesthetically pleasing, well performing and polished disto. The developer is not rude to noobs as so many Linux fans are, he's a real mensch...another big plus IMHO. v8 is in beta ATM...cannot wait.

  4. Review - PowerArchiver 2010

    11.50.66 (Jul 21, 2009)

The best there is, period. 6*

  5. Review - Kaspersky Anti-Virus

    9.0.0.463 Beta (Jul 3, 2009)

very disappoined in the release build, viz 459. Had to turn off features to stop it slowing dowm my machine. Hope this latest build will fix it.

  6. Comment - A real beta process at work: Mozilla fires up Firefox 3.6 Beta 2

    9.0.0.463 Beta (Nov 11, 2009 - 5:30 AM)

Latest stable version of FF is 3.5.5, not 3.5.4 as you reported.

  7. Comment - Sophos study suggests Windows 7 UAC's default setting is self-defeating

    9.0.0.463 Beta (Nov 8, 2009 - 11:41 AM)

Set any program to run as admin and each time you run it you get a UAC prompt. This is silly, just like all those 'are you sure?' prompts when leaving a game. For this reason alone I'm thinking of disabling UAC in 7.

  8. Comment - At last! Public Mozilla Firefox 3.6 Beta 1 is live with new Windows 7 support

    9.0.0.463 Beta (Nov 2, 2009 - 9:00 AM)

I noticed in my testing of the 64bit RC of Win7, the **32 bit** version of IE8 was used by default. I had to reset the shortcuts to use the 64 bit version.

  9. Comment - Public Firefox 3.6 beta now expected Wednesday, 3.5.4 Tuesday

    9.0.0.463 Beta (Oct 27, 2009 - 5:15 AM)

Sloppy and bloated programming should never be tolerated.

  10. Comment - Expect 22.8% performance boost from next week's Firefox 3.6 beta

    9.0.0.463 Beta (Oct 10, 2009 - 5:03 PM)

Just drop IE7. It's an irrelevance. Perhaps WE should provide an instruction manual for relevance and simplicity. The fact that one needs to do some maths to get the info you exampled proves the point that things are not as simple as they could be.
