Am I the only one who was NOT impressed with Joost? Joost advertises itself as "Internet TV", which to me means being able to receive live broadcasts online from different stations around the world, not pre-recorded programs. It's a cool program, it's great eye candy, but you are limited to watching pre-recorded shows... show me actual, live, streamed TV from stations around the world, THEN I'll be impressed... but pre-recorded stuff? You can get a lot of that stuff already on YouTube. It's cool but I'm just not impressed. They've built up SO much hype with having to get invites from others... but the product, to me, doesn't live up to the hype... not even close.

Wii is great, I camped out and have had one for a while now, but I wish I didn't have to wait for every Monday for games to come out on Virtual Console.. it would be a much better selling point for the Wii if all games were available immediately, to have a huge library of games to download as soon as you get it plugged in would be a great way to get Wiis sold... having to wait for Mondays when only 3 or 4 games comes out gets old... For example, I'm a huge Zelda fan, how cool would it be to be able to download all the Zelda games as soon as you get it rather than waiting and hoping they release one on any given Monday?
Just make them all available!

So what is the big deal. I mean, really... just how often are you REALLY going to play old XBOX games? Once, twice maybe? I mean, you had to have an original XBOX to play them, so why not just keep your original XBOX around or close in hand so if you are in the mood, you can just hook it up real quick? I don't even seen this as being an important issue - to me, it's a non-issue. If you want to play your old XBOX games, use your XBOX. Even if it's backwards compatible, it was not designed for that use in mind - the original XBOX was. It's like the old Coke saying - there's nothing like the real thing. So take out your old XBOX and use it. It's been historically known that new systems are not, and probably never will be, 100% backwards compatible. Even the PS2 is not 100% compatible with PS1 games. Emulators themselves, as good as they are today, are not 100% perfect in playing ROMS - so what makes you think the XBOX 360 or PS3 has to be 100% perfect in being backwards compatible? It's a nice feature, but not a big selling point of the consoles. I say get over the fact that some games might not work. And if you are stuck on playing an old game that isn't compatible and for some stupid reason you got rid of your original console, they will be incredibly cheap to re-buy if you are THAT stuck on playing on games.
I mean... look. Most of us that want a PS3 probably currently have a PS2. So what's the big deal... keep it hooked up. Buy a simple RCA switch box and use it - and stop complaining that they are not 100% compatible. Besides, there is nothing on earth that is ever 100% anything.

It looks like to me they are at least somewhat attempting to bring back what they used for the original NES - attracting families. The NES was based on family entertainment - and so is the Wii. Being that the Wii can also play old school games from NES to Sega Genesis and SNES, it further makes this machine a family machine.
Yes, I want a $600 PS3. Can I make sense of spending $700 ... the console, component cables, a few games... no way. I can see spending $250 for the Wii and $50 on Zelda.
New Zelda + Wii... what more convincing do you want? Plus the controller looks a like a hell of a lot of fun to use. I can't wait!
