For those putting down Linux, you haven't used it enough. It has come a long way and still needs a little work, but once you understand it, it is so much better than Windows. You have to have an open mind.
Personally openSUSE isn't my favorite distro but it has a good that it does well.
1.0.115 Beta (May 5, 2009)
I've tried this player a couple of times due to the high praise it gets and each time I'm disappointed. It has no features (at least nothing that works easy for me). I can't load my media library easily and shuffle the list. Maybe I'm not that bright, but I really couldn't figure this player out very well.
I don't understand the hype when there are a lot of other choices that do more, are easy to follow and are still free - Winamp for one.
Release Candidate 1 (RC) (May 5, 2009)
One person said it looks "Fisher Price"?? I don't get how that is, since that was always the look of XP to most people. To be sure Win7 is small increase over Vista visually but you have to go beyond that to understand it.
I've used the beta off and on for the past few months and I find its quite fast. This coming from a steady Vista user. As much as I liked XP, I like Vista a lot (though I did have to turn of UAC which works much nicer in Win7).
Win7 is what Vista should have been. Those who want to keep with XP sound to me like they are too much in the comfort zone and don't see what Win7 can do or haven't really put it through its paces.
Like anything there are things to dislike, but overall its a nice smooth fast operating system.

This program is worth the money for those who don't want to mess with registry settings or don't know how. Plenty of useful information included as well. An even better value when you already have ObjectDesktop since its part of it.
I rarely use it, since once I set things, that's all I need for awhile. Still its organized very well and makes figuring out what changes will do pretty easy, and simply restore function.

"trynow" mentions about moving the start button, etc. You can do that with other programs like DesktopX and ObjectBar to name just a couple, but Windowblinds can't do that. WB is meant to skin the windows and taskbar, so therefore it can't really do much about the placement of some things like the start menu.
For what it can do its an amazing piece of software and one I just do not do without. The skins available for it overall are of excellent quality. This is a must have program for those who like to change things up every so often.

If this gets passed it will make it even tougher for radio to survive. Already many don't listen to it anymore. I got so sick of radio, no matter what station, playing the same songs over and over. The station that plays new and interesting tracks is basically dead. Its only encouraged more people to either download illegally or simply use services like Pandora to get new music.
Music companies need to work with radio to try out new bands, broaden musical appeal rather than only play the hits which gets boring.

One idea that I don't believe has been submitted has been to only have a very basic browser included with the OS. It allows web browsing, no tabs, no add-ons. Just enough to get online. Then those who care to do can either upgrade it to a full fledge IE or download their favorite browser through it and the "baby browser" can stay there as a quick alternative.
User moses wonders why people don't just use IE and we shouldn't try to get "converts" to alternative browsers. I'm curious if he has ever even tried an alternative browser, I'm guesses not. Sure IE is fine for many, but it lacks in many areas that those of who have tried another browser really enjoy having to assist in browsing the web. All we are saying is that IE would not be the browser of choice for many if they had had the opportunity to try other choices instead of simply going with whatever the OS came with.
Sometimes just good enough isn't enough. Use IE, that's fine by me, just don't put down those who have chosen an alternative and want to share their good fortune with others.

In markets where people have a choice on provider, I agree with Comcasts right to throttle their service (though I think it will cause customer migration). If there is no competition available though that is where it gets to be an issue.

Using Win7 RC on a separate partition, it has been much much faster than Vista. However, it is true I do not have quite as much software installed on Win7 as I do on Vista, however the programs that actually run on boot are very similar. Win7 also comes back from Hibernate faster for me.
So I don't believe the tests that say Win7 is slower.

Songbird is a terrific program anyway, this only makes it better. The next version will have CD ripping which is also a desirable addition.
