  1. Review - Desktop Sidebar

    1.04 Build 73 Beta (Aug 23, 2004)

This is an incredible program. I have been using it since the early stages and enjoy seeing the new builds get better and better without sacrificing quality. It is highly configurable and provides accurate up to date information.

In regards to CPU and Memory Usage....
    My test concluded the following:
Running an Intel Pentium 4 1.8 Ghz with 512MB RAM.

    While not in focus:
    6.520 MB Memory usage
0% - 2% CPU usage (the 2% is from updating the information such as the RSS feed and weather)

While in focus, but not accessing anything:
    6.520 MB Memory usage
    0% - 2% CPU usage

While in focus, and rolling over an item:
    10.756 MB Memory usage
    9% - 11% CPU usage

All in all, this program does not have a problem with CPU usage and memory leaks. It runs completely smooth on my machine without any bog downs or memory leaks.

  2. Review - PicaJet FX

    2.0 Beta (136) (Jun 23, 2004)

This is a beautiful application. There is little to no learning curve required to organize your photos and images. I especially like the way you can create categories with drag-drop capability. I believe this makes it stand out above most of the others out there.

The $29.95 is a fairly reasonable price to pay for this software, but I'd have to try it for a little longer before making the jump.

Give it a try, I think you'll like it.

    4.0.1957 (May 8, 2000)

Great program, I use it a lot. But I'm getting real tired of having to update every week for stupid little additions. Why don't you just wait and release it all at once?

All of GlobalScapes have memory leaks... you wouldn't believe the trouble I have with CuteFTP. I end up having to restart every 3 or 4 hours. CuteMX is the same way like you said, plus it crashes quite often on my system. Other than that, its just like a ftp app cuz you wait in queue for about 3 days before any file is sent, and at that you usually don't get all of it.

I'm not really sure what to make of that...

Am I the only one that thinks these are ridiculously priced?

$20 for a downloadable movie when the DVD costs at least $3 or $4 cheaper? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Are you talking about the Macbook Pro? I don't see how you sold a Macbook that this article refers to.. they aren't available.

I knew it was only a matter of time before this happened. Advertisments are already thrown in our face just about everywhere else.

Sometimes, I often wonder what good it actually does.

I'm really having a difficult time understanding how Blu-ray is going to win in all this. They are behind and also double the cost. It's going to be difficult for consumer's to adapt to something like that.

But, this same thing happened with Betamax.. and I was probably wrong back then as well.
