1.3.0.0 Build 683 Beta (Aug 23, 2008)
'Portable' requires no install and ideally should write to the application folder and not the registry. Portable apps keep your system free of clutter and can be used from usb and other portable drives. The number of apps with portable versions is growing rapidly.
DvdFlick seems to work well but requires about 3 hours for a 700mg vid on my admittedly low spec machine (1.8ghz, 1gb ram). Use portable.bat to start the program, to avoid error messages.
15.0.2008.0 (Apr 28, 2008)
I always run as admin, don't use uac, do use autoruns, never have problems but can't be bothered with know it all geeks either. Only Pro version of Winpatrol monitors startup in realtime, get your facts right, otherwise a handy program for little tasks like delaying startup programs etc.
0.9.5 Beta 1 (Oct 21, 2007)
Foobar has been my default player for years because of the great look and sound. However, to say customizing is simply a matter of downloading some files is a ridiculous oversimplification. I agree with kronix2, configuring it can take a while and requires a lot of research by newbies. Just take a look at the length of the Foobar2000 Customization Topic on Neowin.
2.9.3.1315 Beta (Jun 26, 2007)
Best player around imo. Plays almost everything that Mpc, Vlc, etc do with better quality.
3.0.1 Beta (Jun 15, 2007)
XP sp2
Security issues aside, this worked well on XP but lacks a few features (can't open new tabs from bookmarks, address bar or search), cpu jumps about a bit and needs skins. Most problems seem to be on Vista so reviews should include OS to be any use.
3.0.1 Beta (Jun 18, 2005 - 3:16 AM)
I use Ad-aware and Winpatrol, but since installing Spywareblaster those programs have found nothing.
