  1. Review - Allway Sync

    7.1.2 (Mar 1, 2008)

It's IS Free for personal use and isn't crippled in any way that I can find. Check out the website and it is abundantly clear about it being Free for personal use and the circumstances under which you should register/buy the software. If you register/buy it, it only cost a few bucks and it seems it basically is done as a way of supporting the developer and confirming your basic honesty. Besides, this is one slick piece of software that has saved me a lot of time. Try it and you'll be glad you did....

  2. Review - Winamp 5 Full

    5.51 Build 1741 Beta (Dec 10, 2007)

I only gave it a rating of 3 because the only thing I was really interested in was the fix for autoplay. I have the registered Pro version installed on a Vista Home Premium PC and this beta still does not fix the ability to set the Preferences within WimAmp to auto launch an audio CD...it does however now show WinAmp as an available program when trying to set Audio Autoplay through the Default Program options in Windows Vista; however, the setting is ignored. Maybe this beta may be a little too rough if the autoplay fixes under Vista are what you want to evaluate.....I'm holding out hope for this fix to an otherwise great application.....

  4. Comment - Microsoft extends the lifespan of Outlook Express, Hotmail anyway

    5.51 Build 1741 Beta (May 6, 2008 - 2:29 PM)

I almost forgot...could my case just be a coincidence, or, is Microsoft really being a nice guy by not killing Outlook Express on schedule. I'm using Vista Home Premium with SP1 and I'm not going back to XP or Outlook Express......

  5. Comment - Microsoft extends the lifespan of Outlook Express, Hotmail anyway

    5.51 Build 1741 Beta (May 6, 2008 - 2:21 PM)

I've spent a week with Live tech support trying to get the Windows Live Mail desktop client to send/receive on my hotmail account and it's still not working. Today, they blamed my ISP for blocking their DeltaSync server....NOT. I was going to give Microsoft one last chance to have a desktop email client that would receive mail on all of my accounts; i.e., POP3, GMail, and Hotmail. Forget it !! Microsoft doesn't play and work well with others and, even without getting my Hotmail through other desktop email clients, I'm less frustrated sticking with Thunderbird. I'm outta here....

  6. Comment - CES 'Better Questions' contest: Win Vista Ultimate, CS3, Zune and more

    5.51 Build 1741 Beta (Jan 2, 2008 - 4:50 PM)

What is Microsoft doing to encourage application developers to produce Vista compatible versions of their applications? Or, does Microsoft expect the consumer to fund development of Vista compatible applications through hardware life cycle acquistion and application version upgrades charges?
