  1. Review - FeedDemon

    3.0.0.39 Pre-Release (Sep 23, 2009)

Ok after a few days of using version 3, I had considered paying the $10 to get rid of the ads.

Then I thought about it, and I determined that the only significant update to 3.0 compared to 2.7 (the last version without ads), is that it can sync with Google Reader...which I don't use. Other than that, its just visual clean-up and tweaks (i dont even think there's been a single change to the options menu)

    So...back to 2.7, and they don't get my $10.

  2. Review - FeedDemon

    3.0.0.38 Pre-Release (Sep 19, 2009)

Decided to try the latest release. Was surprised to see that they added an option to buy a serial number to remove the ads!!!!!

    This makes me happy!

However then I found out that all of us who spent $30 to buy FeedDemon in the past (before it was freeware) now get the shaft and have to spend another $10.

    This makes me sad!

  3. Review - Win7codecs

    1.1.6 (May 29, 2009)

Why is this needed? I've yet to find a codec that Windows 7 does not have from the start.

  4. Review - FeedDemon

    3.0.0.15 Beta 3 (Apr 22, 2009)

Still a great RSS reader, and well worth paying for if it didnt have ads.

But...the author still insists on sticking their ads right over the most valueable piece of real-estate in the application.....the tree-view. This makes the program nearly useless since it reduces the "at a glace" functionality of the application by about 20%.

Back to version 2.7....hoping that another reader will step up.

    2.8.0.8 RC1 (Dec 11, 2008)

Yes, banner ads in the new version.

Farewell to the previous king of RSS Readers.

  6. Comment - Apple's App Store hits 100K apps: News or rhetoric?

    2.8.0.8 RC1 (Nov 4, 2009 - 4:08 PM)

Wow this is playing into Microsoft's plan for Windows Mobile 7. Having a limited app store with quality apps that are slightly more expensive.

Even *IF* most of those 100,000 apps were actually useful...what kind of loser has time to browse all that stuff?

  7. Comment - A look at Google Fast Flip for iPhone and Android

    2.8.0.8 RC1 (Sep 15, 2009 - 2:26 PM)

Wow I just looked at the full product of "Google Fast Flip".

Sure looks to me like Google is stealing other peopls content and presenting it into a totally readable format without the user ever having to visit the site which hosts the article.

I agree with you. However if they made a real application, it would be much harder to gather information and statistics about you. :)

  9. Comment - Mozilla chief: Microsoft ballot screen leaves IE 'uniquely privileged'

    2.8.0.8 RC1 (Aug 20, 2009 - 6:46 PM)

    Waaaaaaaaaah.

I think Linux distros should be forced to offer a similar choice. Oh wait...that's EXACTLY what google wants.

  10. Comment - Microsoft-Yahoo deal is Google's Christmas-in-July present

    2.8.0.8 RC1 (Jul 29, 2009 - 10:43 PM)

Worst...articles....ever. Is this a 14 year old writing for BetaNews?

"Microsoft and Yahoo are competitors by most every measure other than PC and server software"

Uhhh...correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt PC and Server software MOST of what Microsoft does? and, doesn't Microsoft do about 2 dozen things that Yahoo doesnt? Maybe just little things like Game Consoles, PC Hardware, Development Frameworks, programming langauges, and MP3 players. Minor stuff.

Oh and something about the title of this post...that this is Christmas in July for Google. Were you after going to get around to saying what you meant by that? I suppose you DID say that you "predict" that somehow google will get more share as a result...maybe you want to tell us why you feel that way?
