  1. Review - Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows XP

    6.0 Public Preview Refresh (Jun 25, 2001)

Great Browser. Under the hood is were most of the work is at. I don't think many users will notice a big difference but anyone that does web development will love all the new features added.

  2. Comment - Appeals Court Says 'No' to Microsoft, DOJ

Why don't they go after Nintendo and sony for bundling their games with their system? Ms isn't preventing any end users from installing any software once they get their computers home. It's just the popular thing to do, hate miscosoft.

  3. Comment - AOL Preps Open Messaging System

    6.0 Public Preview Refresh (Jul 25, 2001 - 6:11 PM)

This isn't new. The whole point is that aol is opening it's messaging system. They have already released the aol im protocol but they kicked you off if you weren't using their client. All this is saying is that now other clients will be able to use aol's protocol. Something aol should have been doing long ago. Now maybe I can finally get 1 IM that works with all aol im, icq, and msn. I mean really works not that aol sends you a message telling you that you have to get aol im and then kicks you off it's network.

.Net is one of the best developements I've seen come out of microsoft. .Net is both platform independent and language independent and will be built into all future releases of windows. The thing that I find funny is that all the Microsoft haters don't realize that those 3 facts make it a great tool for any OS manufacturer to increase their OS market share. This means that any .Net compatible app can run on any .Net compatible OS. The biggest problem with people leaving windows for an alternative OS is that they can't use the software they are used to using. If .Net is widley accepted by developers and my non MS OS developers you can might see a more diverse operating system market. That would fuel inovation and competition.

As for C# it's a great language. It's very similar to Java syntax and goal wise. It's probably what Java could have been if it had continuted to evolved.

  5. Comment - Microsoft 'Shares' .NET Framework

    6.0 Public Preview Refresh (Jun 28, 2001 - 4:44 PM)

I can't see how a law suit could come from .Net. Java isn't even address the same things as .Net besides being able to work on multiple platforms. Java is a language. .Net is much more, it is a framework. Any language can be used that conforms to the .net standards and can be compiled to run on the Common Language Runtime. In theory java can run on the with the .Net Framework.

  6. Comment - Appeals Court Reverses MS Breakup

    6.0 Public Preview Refresh (Jun 28, 2001 - 4:22 PM)

It appears they are still going after Microsoft. They just won't be splitting them up. Although I don't really see anything other than a break up harming Microsoft in a big way.
