  1. Review - Mozilla Firefox for Windows (v3)

    3.0 (Jun 17, 2008)

I'm sorry to see that,to date, commentary has been faint but damning praise for 3.0 final. I downloaded it at 1:18EDT, and found it a better performer than 3.0 RC2;memory (RAM)usage reasonable AND stable no matter what load. I also found it quicker & more responsive.(FWIWD, I am on hi-speed Internet, running a 6 yr. old PC with 640Mg RAM, 40G HD and 160G external HD.I have also been running IE7 Beta and FF2.0.0.14 Bon Echo, along with Orca.Maxton & Opera went off my list, and Navigator 9.0.0.6 remains my template for user-friendliness.) IMHO, Mozilla has come up with a solid performer in Firefox 3.0 final that will satisfy those of us who want a reliable, responsive browser.

  2. Review - Mozilla Sunbird for Windows

    0.7 RC3 (Oct 24, 2007)

The graphics are nice, but the program is slow and klutzy in comparison to other calendar programs. One must wonder at the slow pace of progress for this project vs. other Mozilla projects.

  3. Review - Safari for Windows

    3.0.1 Beta (Jun 15, 2007)

After two attempts to use Safari for Windows, I gave up. There were very few identifications of buttons, lines instead of text... definitely user-hostile.
On my first try, my CPU froze; a de-install and a re-install brought it back, but with no improvement. With two Macs in our family, I am familiar with Safari, but I will not play guessing games as to which button does that, and where is the search, etc.I am returning to FF 2.0.0.4 until Safari becomes less cryptic!

  4. Review - Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows XP

    7.0 Beta 2 Preview (Mar 5, 2006)

I have had no success in getting IE7 to acknowledge URLs (for any intended Internet contact). Review of Internet settings,i.e., comparisons with IE6 installs on a desktop and a laptop -- even emulation of these IE6 settings -- proved unsuccessful.
The cosmetic changes that I was able to view and use before IE7 froze up looked promising, but totally useless.
Ihave returned to Firefox 1.5, with an IE6 install mounted for the rare occasions when IE HAS to be used.

  5. Comment - Concern as AT&T Alters Privacy Policy

    7.0 Beta 2 Preview (Jun 22, 2006 - 2:49 PM)

I am also in total agreement with those who disagree with AT&T's actions. I wonder if they would be willing to let their (company) phone records be made public!!
It may be too late to do anything other than boycotting SBC/AT&T products & services, but it's equally important to make it clear to other companies:try this and you will lose my business!

  6. Comment - UN: US Should Not Control Internet

    7.0 Beta 2 Preview (Jul 15, 2005 - 10:08 PM)

    Well said, Voyager4383!
I have little faith in the ability of the UN to administer, govern or manage ANYthing! Let the 'non-government organizations' continue their good works, unencumbered by layers of bureaucratic guana.
