3.0 (Sep 18, 2006)
Best dialog extender I've ever used, hands down. An excellent comprehensive review of just this type of utility can be found here: http://donationcoder.com...logExtenders/index.html
Direct Folders came out as one of the top four in this comparative review. It took a long time for 3.0 to appear, but now it's finally here, and it's amazing how much of a difference it makes to use such a tool.
Give this a shot. You might just fall for it :)
2.11 (Apr 12, 2006)
I have to change my earlier review. After testing Duplicate File Finder, I'm sold on it. I'd recommend it before CloneSpy. They are both very powerful and CloneSpy has one important feature that DFF does not have, and it's very much for the advanced user: the two compare pools and the independent CSC checksum generator. The description of that, from the official CloneSpy site, is here:
"With CloneSpy you can build checksum files from files on CDs (or even on hard drives, etc.) and use them to check whether these files already exist on your system. The checksum files will prevent you from having to play DJ every time you search for duplicates!"
That certainly is a nice feature if you need it, and DFF does not have that, but DFF's interface makes more sense to me even if they are in fact pretty similar.
What really made me switch from CloneSpy is the fact that CloneSpy simply did not find a very obvious duplicate file in a folder I gave it to search, and I have no idea why it didn't. With DFF I had no such problems. Also, DFF seems quite a bit faster with CSC checksum generation on my system than CloneSpy.
I'm keeping them both, for sure, but DFF's my new default :)
9.0 Build 8321 Beta (Mar 24, 2006)
Banquo, these are official weekly releases, and are completely public. See the Opera Desktop Team Blog here: http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/
Another great release of the best browser ever :)
3.51 (Nov 3, 2005)
Quite simply the best of its kind.
The author is hard at work on it as well and updates are fairly regular. However, you're never exactly left thirsty for an update because this thing works so stably and reliably that you have to wonder what there is left to fix/update in it ;)
0.9.9.9 Beta 2 (Nov 3, 2005)
In a word: AMAZING.
Don't waste your time reading this.. download it and try. I GUARANTEE you will love it. I'm not affiliated with this software in any way but after reading the reviews below this one and looking for a tool of just this kind and trying out NetMeeter, I'm literally blown away.
This will make you forget DUMeter ever existed. I'm serious.
0.9.9.9 Beta 2 (Apr 21, 2005 - 3:50 PM)
WTF is everyone doing talking about Firefox/IE here? This post is all about Opera. Anyway.. go Opera! Been a user for years and am constantly advocating it. I've had massive success with my latest attempts due to the overwhelming popularity of Opera 8 final :)
Go go go! :)
