Does what it says on the label - using the LAME codec (included, but I might also have had it installed by Winamp) it converts a Wav to an MP3. Between this and the bog-standard Windows Sound Recorder, I clip sounds to easily convert to ringtones for a MP3 capable phone. Quite fast and the interface is pretty straight forward - choose the file, then right-click and convert.
The id3 tag editor crashes the app, though, because of a missing file - comdlg32.ocx
1.1b Beta (Dec 21, 2005)
Nice program - been using it for a few versions. An update is due, though. The ability to save tabs in a project file (instead of the limited export feature) would be helpful and adding notes to checklists will expand it a lot. Finally, some rich formatting options like bold and underline would be cool.
Still, there's nothing better I know of on the market. It's free, light in resources and easy to access. Font sizes can be changed and the checklist/notification features are terrific if you need them.

To be honest, I've yet to try this version. But I hope and pray it's more stable and less sluggish than the Sun VM. Sun, completely on its own, has made me shudder whenever I have to use a Java app. Alas, excellent programs like Freemind come in no other favlour, so I'm forced to use Java.
If only Sun would develop a version of Java that doesn't appear to be dragging a program through molasses.

The definitive codec pack. Seriously, if a movie file won't play with K-Lit einstalled, it's probably not worth playing :) It's a one-stop codec solution, plus Media Player Classic is a nice bonus.

Very nice, very feature rich.
Not the most resource-friendly, but name an all-encompassing download manager that isn't anyway. No spyware, no nag screens. Plus when it interecepts a file you don't want downloaded (such as a CGI script), when you cancel the download it hands it back to the browser to handle normally.
