  1. Review - AbiWord for Windows

    2.8.1 (Nov 5, 2009)

Pros: 1.) No problems with many, simpler Word files. 2.) Nice new icon.

Cons: 1.) Grammar check won't turn off (settings will not save, even after un/re-install). 2.) Puts MS Visual C++ Redist. files on separate drive (and doesn't delete after install). 3.) Uninstall doesn't remove all files (esp. in Start Menu).

Specs: AbiWord 2.8.1, Windows 7 x64 (UAC off)

  2. Review - µTorrent for Windows

    1.8.4 Build 16301 (Sep 3, 2009)

    The finest torrent client.

Nitpicks: Some of the defaults need work. The installer is overkill. (It merely copies the executable to the Program Files directory) The installer's "Run at Windows startup" and Ask toolbar AS DEFAULTS are very annoying. The default interface/icons could use work, too. (I recommend "µniversal" by savaden.)

  3. Review - CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack)

    2009-09-01b Beta (Sep 3, 2009)

The finest codec pack. Minimalist and clean. Updated regularly.
Installer is as finely crafted (and hilarious) as any.

  4. Review - RivaTuner

    2.24b (Aug 18, 2009)

RivaTuner is one of the finest apps ever created for graphics cards, and freeware at that. A must-have tool for anything GPU-related, from monitoring temperatures to adjusting fan control to overclocking, and setting automated schedules for them all. Indispensable, indeed! Thanks Unwinder.

  5. Review - µTorrent for Windows

    1.9 Build 14981 Beta (Apr 3, 2009)

There's a reason why 1.9 is still ALPHA (not beta). Check the official forums. I recommend 1.8.2 (stable). But that's besides the point: µTorrent is, in fact, the bee's knees.
