    I know they have access, and CAN access it, but should they?

    There's no reason anyone in IT should be reading salaries... that's for HR and MGMT.

    That's why they sell these laptops with locks.

    And yes, it should be just like a car.. if you leave your keys unattended in the ignition it's a misdemeanor. At least in my state.
