  1. Review - Notepad++

    5.4.2 (Jun 2, 2009)

I love this notepad replacement, however this version will not install on my Windows XP sp3

  2. Review - CDBurnerXP

    4.2.4.1351 (May 6, 2009)

I've tried using this program a number of times through its evolvement, and either I'm doing something wrong, or this program just fails at the most inopportune times.

For instance. I tried burning the new Windows 7 RC iso to dvd, and it produced a disk that only booted half way.

Rebooted into windows XP, burned the same ISO with Nero 6, and the dvd installed perfectly.

Nero 6 won't work with Windows 7, so I'm still looking for a reliable replacement.

  3. Review - Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit

    Release Candidate 1 (RC) (May 5, 2009)

5 stars for me... installed and run perfectly on a single core amd X4000, nVidia 7900GS, 2 gigs of pc3200. Gives an overall score of 4.3 (the lowest of the lot, because of the processor), and it runs aero, all bells and whistles.

Found drivers for all my hardware, the nVidia ethernet, 3Com ethernet, Lexmark laser printer.

Installed fresh in about 15 minutes.

Beta keys work with Ultimate version. Good until March 2010

Finally, MS got it right, or is on the right track.

  4. Review - Mozilla Firefox for Windows (v2)

    2.0.0.17 (Sep 24, 2008)

Personally, I do not like FF 3. I don't like the incompatiblity with my most used addons, I don't like the database bookmark system, and I don't like the location bar functions.
Not to mention, I have a good 7Mb DSL service and a fairly fast computer, I noticed no speed differential in the two.

I hope they keep FF2 around a lot longer, it does everything I need in a browser.

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer XP Pro over Vista, too. Go figure.

  5. Review - Mozilla Firefox for Windows (v3)

    3.0 (Jun 20, 2008)

Firefox 3 is a loser for me. Pages won't load, login pages won't load, click on links, they go nowhere.

I'd already about had it with the new 'improved' location bar, and I cannot stand the new interface with it's double lines, listing of my own freaking bookmarks... I can search my OWN bookmarks, thanks, without them constantly showing in the 'history' dropdown.

I unistalled 3 just now, went back to 2.014, and EVERYTHING works again. I can login to my secure sites like before, blah blah.

Guess I'll just wait for 3.5 or something, cuz' this ain't gettin' it.

  6. Comment - Microsoft Scrambling to Explain Ballmer Comment on Red Hat Linux

    3.0 (Oct 10, 2007 - 9:17 AM)

Ballmer.... Master of FUD (at least in his own mind)

What a joke MS is developing into, with their new boat anchor, Vista, especially.

  7. Comment - Beta Test Symantec's 2008 Products

    3.0 (Jul 9, 2007 - 9:18 AM)

I believe I'll pass on being a beta tester for a known bloatware product.
Norton has a LONG way to go to dispel its bad reputation.... and being a screen-door in an overweight defensive submarine.
    just mho

  8. Comment - Has the PC Become Antiquated?

    3.0 (Apr 30, 2007 - 8:35 AM)

meh. I still have a client who has windows 95 on one box, and windows 98 on 3 others into a Novelle server. He's not about to buy something new just because it's out there. He makes a ton of money with his system now, and that's all he cares about.

I mean, really, why upgrade when you don't have to ?
Except ME, of course, I upgrade mine a couple times a year ususally. heh.

Just can't seem to picture WII controls for my AMD system, though.

  9. Comment - Adobe to Release Flex to Open Source Mozilla Foundation

    Great article.
I just marked a ton of spaces in my Boardroom Bulls*** Lingo Bingo game.

  10. Comment - Nearly $1 BN Set-Top Box Subsidy May Not Be Enough

    3.0 (Mar 21, 2007 - 7:14 AM)

    meh.
I'm just going to stop watching TV altogether. There's nothing airing that is worth purchasing extra equipment, and I maybe watch 2 hours of TV a week. That time could well be used to catch up on my reading .
