  2. Review - Microsoft Money Essentials 2008

    14.0 (Nov 19, 2004)

I have to agree with a reviewer below. 2005 is going to be the year of the failed, microsoft product. MS money, a disaster in the making. Bad decisions have been made at microsoft on the corporate level. The worst yet was bundling Yodlee technology with their product. Yodlee, while nice in theory, doesn't work 100% of the time! Come to think of it. 5 of my 10 accounts polled (aggregated) by Yodlee don't work due to their "technical difficulties". Their 48 hour promise to fix those accounts, turn in to months! Inquiries on the status of the problem results in: "We are working on the problem, and it should be resolved within 48 hours!" I know technology is trying to accomplish a lot, with very little cooperation from big companies, but heck. I rather download QFX files than have yodlee screw it up for me "automatically". The worst incidents by far is with Fidelity. 45 days into the problem, I still can't properly connect to their netbenefits site. The other is with AMEX. Transactions are duplicated; not only that, they cancel each other out. So if I bought something it shows up as a debit AND credit! What a load of crap. HSBC is also a problem. Having my CC balances show us as CREDITS (positive values), instead of what they really are, DEBITS: amounts I OWE. All and all, it's a good software for keeping track of your finances, only if you avoid the online services. I'm sure next year, MS will dump Yodlee disaster.

  3. Review - Trillian

    3.0 Alpha 1 (Nov 5, 2004)

ArKay74, don't count on it. And I hear a new price structure will be put into place, once this thing goes final. Care to pay 39.95 for a single computer license? ;)

I'm sick and tired of 1 update a year deal. v 2.0 is still bug ridden; they have some nerve releasing 3.0.

i guess I'll have to go with miranda.

  4. Review - ZTreeWin

    1.49.2k Beta (Oct 18, 2004)

Somebody needs to put this thing to rest! If I could travel back in time, say 15 years back, I'd probably find this software very useful. I have to admit, it does what it suppose to do, and it does it very well, for maybe a 1991 proggie. It's time to drop the ANSI b/s: Directory Opus 8!

It's a good FTP server, no doubt about it, but I keep coming back to Gene6.

  6. Comment - NTSB: Ban Teen Cell Phone Use in Cars

    2.4.1746 (Sep 22, 2005 - 6:02 PM)

There's no correlation between cell phone use and car accidents! There are bad drivers, and there are good drivers; and the term 'accident' doesn't really apply in this case! There are no accidents, there are only mistakes made by bad drivers; and one giant mistake is the road test that DMV administers for all new drivers. It's nothing short of a joke! A circle around the parking lot will get you a driver's license! We shouldn't go after cell phone users, we should administer a driving test like the one the have in Germany!

    written examination
    verbal quiz
    2,000 Euros
2 hours of on road/off road driving
    stick-s*** automobile

failed? come back in 18 months with another 2k Euros, and try again!

why do you think they have autobons there and here in US we have 50mph limit (at most)? Because you don't have some 90 year old cripple going 15mph in the left lane with reaction time of a sea turtle, that's why!
