5.56 Build 2512 (Jul 8, 2009)
Pros: Best features include the 12 band EQ, thousands of plugins, my fav is the one for IR remotes. I use the one for Creative Audigy 2 ZS and the entire remote works, so I end up getting a free media center PC.
Cons: No folders for Bookmarks and Meda RSS feeds.
Default browser rendering engine is locked to IE, I rather have flexablity use whatever engine e.g.: Opera etc.
Summary: Winamp is the Firefox (Although I'm a full time Opera browser user since '99) of media players, in functionality for audio and video.
As mentioned, the plugins, I've also seen plugins for HID devices and Windows media center remotes as well.
And whoever says its bloated, need to check their facts, e.g.: iTunes is 75.07MB and Winamp is only 9.80MB (Fuly loaded), Lite is only 6.46MB.
Lately Nullsoft has done a noteworthy job of integrating hundreds of free AOL & CBS radio stations, plus there's the old SHOUTcast as well. And its also a media aggregator, so I can stream all my RSS subscribed podcasts (Go TwiT!) through Winamp as well.

5.53 Build 1924 (Mar 31, 2008)
All these whiners are spamming the review section, I've been using Winamp since 1997 and have no issues with it till now, FLAC works, everything works fine if your OS is stable.
Only thing I'd like to see is an option to resample to 48,000 KHz or 96,000 KHz and any codec playback support like VLC, right now I use Winamp with FFDShow to attain obscure format playback.
It does what it says on the box!

8.1.0.239 (Mar 5, 2007)
This app great on most fronts but...
I have a possible bug to report for PC-PC conference calls.
I currently have two soundcards but I use my secondary onboard Soundmax soundcard (Not Windows Default) to make Yahoo! PC-Phone calls from Yahoo! Voice. They’ve always worked.
However, I discovered when I initiate or join conference calls Yahoo! Messenger uses my main Windows Default soundcard (Creative Audigy 2), even though the second soundcard (Soundmax) has been properly selected and saved via audio tuning wizard.
The bug is: it reverts to my main (Windows Default) soundcard only for conference calls, even though I’ve selected my secondary soundcard (Yahoo! Messenger default) in Yahoo! Messenger preferences.
Can anyone confirm please?

No Opera browser support and a resolution restriction, is Ask, asking to be left out!

Karma! MS never actaully paid for how it bundled IE in Windows, and now pretty much owns the net and all its related technologies.
If it weren't for that we couldve had a browser neutral net and uniform security policies.
Thats all I have to say.

Creative is the only company that's actively making an effort to drasticaly improve PC sound i.e. Creative's Sound Blaster X-Fi audio processor.

AOL Supports Winamp thats the best IMO

Clearly this shows Google's desperation at losing its 10% revenue from AOL.
I'm glad Yahoo! dropped out when it did.
