  1. Review - Your Uninstaller!

    5.0.0.258 (Nov 14, 2006)

While I haven't tried every uninstall application on the web, I consider this a near best of breed application that has served me well for a number of years now. It'a must have for cleaning up OEM crapstallations on a new computer and a valuable tool for cleaning up an older computer that is chock full of nuts.

  2. Review - Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows XP

    7.0 Beta 2 Preview Refresh Build 5335.5 (Mar 20, 2006)

Kimoeagle. All you need to do it go to your "Set Program Access and Defaults" panel and select IE as your browser. For some reason this build unselected it.

    7.0 Beta 2 Preview Refresh Build 5335.5 (Feb 22, 2009 - 1:13 PM)

I'm speaking about the 50mbps top tier which does not throttle

Actually...the top speed tier does not throttle back speed after 20mb.

  5. Comment - Microsoft follows Apple with retail stores, but will people line up for a Zune?

    7.0 Beta 2 Preview Refresh Build 5335.5 (Feb 16, 2009 - 10:31 AM)

So what "store" do you go to when you want to physically touch computers from many different makers before you buy them? Costco, Walmart? Get real...unfortunately, Best Buy is one of the better choices for poorly displayed variety and that's not saying much.

I've been in the Retail Experience Center and I can tell you it's pretty cool to be able to test drive laptops or netbooks from a large variety of manufactures all in the same place. All set up as hero machines with no crapware or trial ware. The display prototype fixtures are well thought out and ergonomic for actually using the hardware. No cable ties covering the controls, no leashes to keep you from holding or turning over the item. When you want to buy your next computer would you rather actually try them all out or do you want to continue to walk into Best Buy and see them all locked away with a best buy web page stuck on screen?

  7. Comment - Can a touch-screen interface turn Windows around?

    7.0 Beta 2 Preview Refresh Build 5335.5 (May 28, 2008 - 1:11 PM)

Microsoft has been working on touch interfaces for a great many years. I'd venture to guess they have more developers in this field than any other company. The problem remains that touch is very dependent on hardware and microsoft does not control the hardware in the same way that some other companies do. I'm hoping that all comes together with new Win7 products.
