I cannot recommend this, with every revision it slows down my PC more and more. Version 2 was far superior and reminded me of when ZoneAlarm was good, now version 3 seems like a victim of bloat and carelessness in programming.
3.0 (Jul 1, 2008)
Slow, overrated and incompatible with Firefox add-ins, what a waste of a release.
6.4.9.1 Beta 20080104 (Jan 4, 2008)
Reasons I use MPC:
Small memory footprint
Uses existing codecs seamlessly
No huge install file or unnecessary plugins
Real Alternative and Quicktime Alt. perform faster than either of their own clients
And last but not least -
No need to install M$ Media Player 10 or 11!
(6.9.70) 7.0 Beta 2 (Aug 25, 2007)
I want to reiterate the good reviews and to also say that although MEPIS has a scant website and without the MEPISlovers forums would have almost no support, it hung in there as one of the top distros for years. It went back to its roots by using Debian as a base which is a major plus. It took a while for the new version to come out and the Ubuntu Dapper based kernel never played well with Athlon 64 CPUs. I have the 64-bit version of the beta and besides some hiccups with fonts and ATI driver support, I know this version will be their best yet!
As for the M$ mark and whiner with his bad Linux review, who wants to fabricate and prepare his "I spent 30 minutes trying to get X to work" award?

I was satisfied with this firewall yet I wouldn't deny that it can conceivably interfere with hardware drivers especially ones with pre-SP2 and not being updated per the device manufacturer. I've been running Comodo and have no major problems with that, maybe I'll give Kerio another go if the former doesn't work for me. These two are the only major contenders in the software firewall market left IMO. RIP Sygate...

Having Yahoo bought by Microsoft is kind of like seeing the Neo-Nazi Party purchase the Holocaust Memorial.

Blu-ray has superior security and a superior patented plastic coating that made some other yuppie a-holes rich beyond their means.
Sony are devils but they were smart ones. They got their PS3 pre-built to play Blu-ray which got them the edge. That will continue to be marketed to high-end customers and slackers who live in their parents' basement and have no bills. Most of us won't see an affordable HD option until late next year at the soonest.
This reality sucks.

I'm still not buying a PS3.
