  1. Review - VirtualBox

    2.0.2 (Sep 14, 2008)

It's an excellent program and a very fast one too. But i just can't stand the fact i can't drag and drop files/programs in and out of the VM just by dragging them between windows. MS VirtualPC 2007 does that and it's far better. There is file sharing option but i never could get it working so it's no use to me. I have to upload files somewhere on host system, open up VM, download that and run in VM. Lame, slow and limited.

  2. Review - ThreatFire

    1.2.0.39 (Nov 1, 2006)

    @ZenWarrior
I hope you do realize that you've been throwing adware/spyware at it. Behavior analyzers are mainly focused on worms, trojans and (partially) viruses. Adware and stuff is just an extra goodie but you can't really expect a behavior analyzer to do the job of dedicated signature anti-spyware or antivirus?
Besides, there is no signature updater mechanism so it takes long for them to update it as it only comes with the program update itself.

As of the program itself, it has a great potential. Some false positives and compatibility problems here and there but in general it's easy to use and does the job very well. And it's free.
4/5 for now but i'm sure i'll be soon able to give them 5/5. We just got their team to Wilders Security and i've been in contact with them for quiet some time now. Just track this tool, it's worth it.

  3. Review - DirectX for Windows

    August 2006 (Aug 4, 2006)

Well it's still saying that i'm up to date even though i'm not.

  4. Review - Microsoft Private Folder

    1.0 (Jul 15, 2006)

It does what it's suppose to do. Simple to use and very straight-forward. 5/5 on this one. Nice job MS, would certanly like to see more of such handy tools.

  5. Comment - Is AES encryption crackable?

    1.0 (Nov 6, 2009 - 6:28 AM)

As some cryptographer said to me once. It's not a problem in crypto algorithm itself, it's the implementation that's usually the main problem. You can have a perfect unbreakable 4096bit AES2 key, but if it's implementation is bad, you can easily break it. So AES by itself IS safe, it's implimentation usually isn't.

  6. Comment - Sophos study suggests Windows 7 UAC's default setting is self-defeating

    1.0 (Nov 6, 2009 - 6:01 AM)

Lol, what kind of stupid test is this? Of course FakeAV's installed without problems. They don't use ANY system drivers since they are fake AV's. And programs that don't do any system wide changes don't even require admin rights.

  7. Comment - Performance drain: The first public perception test of the Windows 7 era

    1.0 (Nov 5, 2009 - 12:34 AM)

I'm not sure if they're writting about same Windows 7 that i was testing. Because from my experience it's really beautiful and fast OS. I mean i was running Win7 on netbook with Atom N270, 1GB of RAM and GMA950. And it worked really fast plus i could use full Aero interface.
On my main system with Core i7 920, 6GB of RAM and HD4870 it just flies like rocket.
So i really have no clue wat you guys at BetaNews were using, but it sure wasn't Windows 7...
How fast IE or Chrome start is just irrelevant, because it all boils down to how it's coded. IE and Firefox need some time to start, Chrome is very fast. But that's how it is, i don't care all that much, except on netbook where it takes even longer and i'd prefer to use Chrome. But just not yet...

  8. Comment - Google Chrome in a runaway lead for browser performance supremacy

    1.0 (Nov 3, 2009 - 6:04 AM)

I always say it and i'll do it again. What good is speed without control? And Chrome seriously lack control. No extensions, no extra features, no nothing. Sure it's fast but completely useless to me.
I need fully configurable interface, mouse gestures, adblocking (i really can't stand flashing banners), GMail notification (it's their service and they don't care about it lol) and finally, bookmarks synchronization. When they add all this (or at least via extensions) i'll switch to Chrome. But until then, i'm sticking with Firefox just because it's so damn flexible.

  9. Comment - Without the fastest JavaScript, can Opera 10 RC still lay claim to speed?

    1.0 (Aug 26, 2009 - 4:29 PM)

Some think JavaScript is all it matters. And that Chrome is the fastest. Yeah, well in JavaScript benchmarks. But those don't involve all the content we usually find on webpages. And thats where Opera is usually faster than others.
