  1. Review - Allway Sync

    7.1.2 (Mar 27, 2008)

Works perfect. I don't know what the previous reviewer is talking about because Allway Sync does not permanently delete files unless you instruct it to. You have the option of sending deleted files to the Recycle Bin, the _SYNCAPP folder or to any other location defined by the user. Same goes for modified files.
I've tried Microsoft's SyncToy but Allway is far superior and much more intuitive. The interface is better as well. Allway is ideal if you have several USB drives that you need to keep synchronized on multiple computers. Allway syncs in both directions not just one unlike other backup utilities. I bought the Pro version to help support the developer but the free version is just as capable. Once you get your drives and folders sync'ed I suggest using TrueCrypt to get them encrypted. IMO, Allway Sync is the best of the lot.

  2. Comment - Google Voice controversy continues with melee between AT&T and Google

    7.1.2 (Sep 26, 2009 - 1:27 AM)

Let's see now, my AT&T landline with caller ID is $46 a month.
Where as my Google Voice number with caller ID, voice mail, call forwarding and call blocking cost absolutely nothing.

AT&T should be kissing my a$$ for not dumping them. Lucky for them, my wife insists on having a landline.

  3. Comment - The new deal for Windows 7 testers

    7.1.2 (Feb 3, 2009 - 8:13 PM)

Windows 7 is just an expensive service pack but if that's how you fanboys want to spend your money on...go for it while you're still employed.
XP serves my purposes just fine and I think that goes for millions of other people too.

  4. Comment - House votes to tighten net child porn regulations

    7.1.2 (Dec 6, 2007 - 9:30 PM)

Looks like the ISPs will risk heavier penalties than the child predators. $150,000 per image per day? Thats nuts.
Might as well require the US Postal Service to inspect every piece of mail for child porn.

  5. Comment - Dell continues retail push with Best Buy deal

    7.1.2 (Dec 6, 2007 - 8:51 PM)

So what? Dell sells in WalMart and at one time had kiosks at Sears. Bottom line...it didn't help.
Everybody knows that the best deals on Dell's are always online.
In fact, I wouldn't buy a Dell unless it made the front page of Slickdeals.com.
Consumers are wising-up and Dell needs to address that.

  6. Comment - Can Vista Be Credited With Microsoft's Stellar Q1 Gains?

    7.1.2 (Oct 26, 2007 - 11:10 PM)

Huh? I just bought two laptops and a PC from Dell. All but one laptop had XP on it. Dell is the only vendor that is still selling XP. They were to cease offering Vista Jan. 31 but MS gave them an extension till June '08.
The one laptop I bought with Vista was a Vostro 1400 and there was no option for XP.
Vista is a exercise in annoyance. Example: it takes two mouse clicks to set the clock in XP as opposed to six in Vista. It's like that with everything.
