  1. Review - Transmute

    1.08 (Dec 23, 2008)

Works great and if you go to the product home page, then download tab, you can grab a Portable version! That is a requirement to make my favorite apps list these days - and I'm glad to have this wherever I go.

  2. Review - Sysinternals Suite

    Build 08/08/08 (Aug 12, 2008)

Though argybee is correct in that it is more of a "collection" and the term "suite" may convince some that there is a front end, it's still contains some of the best best tools available to those that understand them. No need to lowball the rating due to wording.

  3. Review - Damn Small Linux

    4.4.2 (Jun 24, 2008)

I also hope FF3 makes it in MUCH quicker than FF2 did. This is a great little distro for certain tasks. The boxed browser approach reidyn mentioned is a great example. I use it on an old Compaq Evo nc600 laptop w/512MB RAM to loop an mp3 collection to the Music on Hold port on the phone switch where I work. I bet I haven't even opened the latch and looked at that screen in over 6 months. Perfect!

  4. Review - VMware Workstation for Windows

    6.5 Build 91182 Beta (May 15, 2008)

The new Unity feature is so nice! I've enjoyed it in Fusion for the mac and am glad it's come to other platforms. I find this product getting better all the time. Migrating VMs to another computer keeps getting easier and I plan to start making use of the Record/Replay functionality instead of collections of PrintScreens for documenting certain procedures. I wouldn't complain about bloat because I run it on powerful machines with plenty of RAM. For a less powerful PC, Virtual Box is a little quicker - and that product is growing features at a good clip also. I have personally purchased VMware for 2 platforms and don't regret it at all.

  5. Review - Foxit Reader

    2.3 Build 2822 (Apr 24, 2008)

Foxit has been a great alternative to the monstrous Adobe product and this version makes it even better. I'm curious about the X-Change viewer mentioned below. I can't find it - can anyone supply a url or more accurate name?

  6. Comment - Palm reaches all-time high in sales, painfully low profits

    2.3 Build 2822 (Jun 27, 2008 - 7:28 PM)

Nobody but Palm could screw up so bad. I still favor Palm over any other device - just bought a Treo 755p 2 days ago to hang with my current TX and T3 (and one more TX on ice as backup). I buy and use Palm because I'm in FAR to deep after "using" since the original Pilot... I've spent more on Palm software than PC over the years! It stinks that I keep giving my hard earned cash to these clowns, but I have nowhere else to go. I so wish they would hire some people with business (and technological) smarts.

  7. Comment - Comcast to announce all-on-demand service this morning

    2.3 Build 2822 (Jan 8, 2008 - 11:28 AM)

I feel yet another rate increase from Comcast - whether one opts for this service or not.
