  1. Review - Google Chrome for Windows

    4.0.245.0 Beta (Nov 17, 2009)

I have been using Google Chrome as my default browser for about a month now. I made it default because it loads fast and some programs that access a browser on occasion would open Firefox. My Firefox is full of plugins and thus takes quite a while to load. Google Chrome opens much quicker and often will open pages Firefox has trouble with.

Firefox is the tool I use most of the time for posting in forums and researching because of the many useful addons I have installed. I am looking forward to the inclusion of this type of functionality in Chrome some day.

  3. Review - avast! Home

    5.0.167 Beta (Oct 15, 2009)

Might it be better to link to New beta refresh 5.0.167 as a home page for this reliece

    [Incomplete] change log:

    - improvements in the Explorer right-click scan
    - improvements in the localizations (French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Czech, Polish, Russian and Chinese localizations should now be complete)
    - Add and Submit commands in the virus chest now working
    - fixed a few memory leaks in the GUI process
    - boot-time scan logs now in the Scan logs folder (this feature is still unfinished)
    - added controls for actions on infected files inside archives
    - fixed the Block command in the Ask dialog
    - improvements in the silent installer
    - the program is now working under Windows 2000 (SP4 or higher)

WOW very nice interface and extensive activity information with a graph of shield traffic for each separate component and history graphs by http://www.amcharts.com/. The user may chose simple controls and settings or expert level interaction. The interface default is quite nice. I have not tried any skins yet. I don't usually use them.
    OK UPDATE

Sorry to say... but avast 5 won't be skinable and your skin couldn't be used with it...
avast 4, otherwise, will be available to update for more one year.

  4. Review - PeerBlock Interim Release

    1.0 (Sep 30, 2009)

Yea! This is great news. It installed without missing a beat no more uninstall first.

I hear the developers and friends are having a little celebration in a bar near New York. I hope they have a great time, They sure did earn it. This is, so much, piece of mind. I love this jewl of a program A++

  5. Review - UnHackMe

    5.5 Beta (Aug 13, 2009)

I hope this software will continue to improve. I like the concept but in my system I found myself in an endless loop of reboots trying to delete a file that UnHackMe said was not on my machine.. I found much of the documentation hard to follow. The translation is in need of fine tuning.

As far as I can tell once a file called "MCHINJDRV.SYS" was once on my machine and was in the autorun section of my registry. UnHackMe repeatedly found the entry in my registry and tried to delete the file even though it was not physically on my system. perhaps I misunderstood but I was repeatedly directed to reboot my system to remove the threat that repeatedly was reported not found....

Any way Good luck to the development team. I hope you can refine this program so that it is more anglo-friendly and fool-usable.

  7. Comment - Death Knell Sounds for Nullsoft, Winamp

    5.5 Beta (Nov 11, 2004 - 8:31 AM)

Seems a shame to think that a program that wipes the floor with Media player is struggling to stay alive. I just found out how great it is. If every user donated $1 or its equivalent in their currency AOL could probably go GNU>
