  1. Review - Winamp 5 Full

    5.24 (Jun 23, 2006)

I agree with Zankur: I can run this app on my friend's PII-400.

She doesn't have the net so I installed it for her to replace her s***-ass WMP9.

  2. Review - WinZip

    10.0 Build 6698 (Jun 23, 2006)

A total and utter waste. It doesn't support the ACE or RAR formats, which have both been relatively common in recent years (with ACE less popular than in 1999 or so though).

  3. Review - Dope Wars

    2.2.0.0 (Jun 23, 2006)

It's a decent game, but success or failure is based on how lucky you are with early game prices and events.

From there, the game becomes very simplistic with the best weapon being very inexpensive relative to the money you earn and far too powerful.

My friend who introduced me to this game -- a high school dropout with no sense for numbers -- can get 450,000 in 120 day mode and I can get over 750K.

Furthermore, it's no longer supported in any way by the developer and you seem to have to acquire a serial number illegally to "buy" the game nowadays.

  4. Review - WinAce

    2.6 Beta 2 (Oct 7, 2004)

Strengths: Less bad than WinZip. Actually supports more than just ZIP.

Weaknesses: Not pleasant to use, sucks compared to WinRAR and the mighty Powerarchiver.

  5. Review - Windows Media Player for Windows XP (32-bit)

    10.00.00.3646 (Sep 16, 2004)

Garbage. Use WinAmp for audio and Media Player Classic for video.

LEss intrusive, less buggy, more respectful of your privacy rights.

  6. Comment - Second US Court Says No to Microsoft

    10.00.00.3646 (Apr 19, 2006 - 10:27 AM)

Some of you Americans don't seem very logical:

Microsoft -- regardless of who owns it and where it is HQed -- sells products in the EU and must follow EU laws if it wishes to continue selling there. An American court would be acting outside of its jurisdiction if it essentially allows Microsoft to violate European corporate law while doing business in Europe.

  7. Comment - Political Bloggers Under Fire

    10.00.00.3646 (Apr 5, 2005 - 1:59 PM)

I'm a leftist from Canada, and while I admire San Francisco's gay postive attitude and its progressive social and economic policies, I've always found the government there (and, to a lesser extent, other major California cities)to go extremely overboard with regards to political correctness (And coming from somebody who makes Gavin Newsom look like Tom Delay, that says a lot).

I mean, Los Angeles once tried to have the IDE bus designations changed from master/slave to something different, and San Francisco banned an antique shop from playing White Christmas for fear that the lyrics could be interpreted racistly. (The idea that American lefties can find their own to be that dumb boggles my mind. Not even far-right Jesuslander types are dumb enough to believe that White Christmas is a racist song.)

San Francisco's leaders are the kind of people who would think that Iron Maiden's The Clansman is a song that glorifies the KKK, when it's really a Braveheart-inspired ode to the Scottish nationalist movement (which is generally extremely left-of-centre nowadays. The Scottish National Party is left of the Anti-Blairites (Old Labour) wing of the Labour Party, and the Scottish Socialist Party makes the SNP look like a bunch of Europhobic, Bush-worshipping Tories.).

  8. Comment - Sun Brings Java Desktop to Wal-Mart Shelves

    10.00.00.3646 (Dec 11, 2003 - 10:14 AM)

To support a corporation so entrenched with the Chicon Red Fascists is something that I as a leftist cannot do in good conscious.

    TAIWAN FOREVER CHINA NEVER!!!

  9. Comment - Sun Selected to Power Desktops in China

    We should take extreme action.

Any company supporting the Great Firewall of China must be dealth with violently, swiftly, and ruthlessly in the name of liberty and progress.

Any liberal who supports the CCP should Shanghai themselves...
