6 Update 3 (Oct 3, 2007)
Seems to be working fine, and really this is not a beta release - it is official. You can find it on the Java SE download page, and even Java.com reports that this is the latest Java build: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
3 Beta (Jun 11, 2007)
Well with all the excitement concerning WWDC 2007 Keynote, and the announcement of a Windows Version of Safari it seems that quality control did not check this beta out. Installing the beta went fine, running Safari is another matter... No text at all, images load from the default Apple site, but oddly no text in address bar nor for the "File, Edit, View, etc" pane. Clicking on the areas where you would expect File results in a blank box where options should appear. Trying to enter text into the address bar results in nothing being displayed. So technically this is more alpha than beta for me. I don't think I'll try the beta on my Mac at this moment either - kind of concerned simply by the state/experience of the Windows version.
*Update* Well to everyone that wants to claim that the issue is with a computer user with 'virus, trojan, etc' or is not updated fully - you need to hop over to the Discussion on apple's site. Computers I have tested this on result in the same issue, computers are clean and up-to-date (It's my job to keep them so). We are not the only individuals with an issue just check out and help your fellow users at Apple's Discussion site for Safari.
But there seems to be a fix for some of the missing text, you install the fonts in Safari's Safari.resources folder into Windows Fonts folder, rename Safari.resources to something else *like safari.resource* temporarily - launch Safari, it won't run of course. Now rename safari.resource back to its original name safari.resources and you will be able to see what you are missing. Just to let you know I'm using Safari 3 Beta on Windows XP right now... There are a few pages still that are missing text etc, it could be an issue with 'default font' in the Edit>Prefrences, I'll look into this a little more. And to show my support to Apple I will raise my original score from 1 to 3.
6.21 (Jun 11, 2007)
The Intellipoint portion of this seems to be working fine. Had a snag once the computer restarted, Click was acting as a Command+Click but after unplugging the mouse and reinserting the issue was gone. Even after restarts - so no issues that I can tell.
7.0 Final (Oct 18, 2006)
A really nice change - something that took way too long to be truthful. I too like the new quicktabs, of IE7. However, to me, it still needs some more work on the web standards. Opera passes the Acid test, Firefox hasn't really progressed any further from previous builds in this regard - but IE7 really garbles on the Acid test, a little disappointing.
A nice new version of IE7 is nothing to sneeze at. It does need some work. Overall, it is a nice step in the right direction. All the browsers seem to be adding new needed features in their next releases, let's hope that IE7 keeps evolving, unlike it's IE6 ancestor.
9.0 Build 8265 Beta (Mar 10, 2006)
I'm not too sure about the fact that this passes the acid2 test. Scrolling the page of the result of the acid2 test removes the top of the smiley face as well as moves an additional black line underneath the 'scalp.' And this is simply scrolling with the wheel. Other than that, this has always been a wonderful browser - these builds still have a few bugs in them, a couple of the flash pages I visit seem to be missing layers - could be a flash plugin issue with the Opera build though. All in all very promising.
9.0 Build 8265 Beta (Mar 28, 2007 - 11:04 AM)
I'm just curious about this not being able to use iTunes with 64-bit Windows, I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit and iTunes - I had to download the Gear 64-bit driver (which can be found here: http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm ) to get CD burning within iTunes to work, but other than that and the rather poor performance of purchased videos in iTunes (jumpy etc) every thing seems to be working fine. There is an issue that I believe is within iTunes, for some reason it does not bring up one set of purchased music when I search my library, even though the Playlist I made shows the tracks and I can play them, I cannot seem to bring them up in the main library window - could be a bug with Vista or iTunes in that regards really.
9.0 Build 8265 Beta (Jul 28, 2006 - 8:12 AM)
I have to agree with you, use whatever is comfortable for you and your needs. Now that being said, I practically use three browsers every day: Firefox, Opera, and Internet Explorer. They all have their strengths and weaknesses - though I rarely use Internet Explorer, only to make sure websites still can be viewed in a somewhat 'proper' way or the rare website that "Must be viewed with the latest version of IE." Opera and Firefox are the main ones I use, Firefox releases updates - all software companies do this, accept it as something that happens. The world changes everyday, and you have to update to keep up. Enjoy whatever you use to browse the web.
