  1. Comment - Open mouth, insert BlackBerry

Another rushed-to-market iPhone killer bites the dust.

Apple's Steve Jobs set the standard, and continues to stay on the same course: Forget about competing; just do what you do best. And you know what? If Apple wanted to do so? They have no debt and so much cash, that they could become one of the nation's biggest banks right now.

What irks me most about the Storm is that so many people were so willing to bash reviewers who forewarned them that the Storm was a broken toy out of the box -- most notably, David Pogue -- yet they not only bashed him and others who provided similar reviews, but then went out and bought one anyway.

Nose? How does it feel to be disenfaced to spite your previous owner's self?

Worse than this, is the so-called "reviewers" and self-reported Storm owners who, seemingly paid by the word, told us how much they loved their Storm; how much better it is than the iPhone; how much better it is than anything else available in the Universe. These people are not only reprehensible for their moral failings; they're disgusting examples of what the most mean-spirited, most greedy and most despicable among us can be.

Stupidity sometimes kills people. Other times, it just helps people part with their money in a speedy fashion. But those who suffer from it ultimately get both.

  2. Comment - 'Y2K9' bug hits 30 GB Zunes

    (Jan 1, 2009 - 5:58 AM)

Oh yeah. Judging by the responses on the Internet alone, I can see how valuable having a programming background has helped Zune owners to "overlook" this problem.

It's not my fault that you're tethered to an inferior technology.

Instead of lecturing me on what's irrelevant about this "issue," try something novel: face facts and grow up.

  3. Comment - 'Y2K9' bug hits 30 GB Zunes

Great. Microsoft innovates a new bug, for a relatively new product (one Microsoft year is roughly equivalent to seven human years -- check out the time between OS releases, e.g.), and then only discovers it when it's too late. Procrastination (read: incompetence) seems to be one of their strengths, if not also a social skill.

Bad enough that tax payers, consumers and businesses footed a bill totalling hundreds of millions of dollars for their Y2K debacle. (Oh. We forgot the century was turning. Our bad.) Now, owners of their failed "iPod killer" have to suffer yet another insult, beyond a significant degree of insult that obtains from the simple fact of owning a Zune.

When does it end? It ends when Microsoft discovers a bug that dissolves their incompetent corporate mismanagement. Oh, wait. That bug was already discovered but, because Microsoft is Microsoft, noboday cared. Except for those zanie Microsoft Kool Aid drinkers who seem to believe that every POS Microsoft creates is touched by Midas himself.

Thanks again Microsoft. You're nothing if not consistent.

  4. Comment - Microsoft denies the severity of a Media Player exploit

Of course Microsoft denies any culpability. That's one of their better social skills.
