  1. Review - foobar2000

    0.62 (May 8, 2003)

Foobar continues to be one of the highest fidelity, smallest overhead players in the scene. If you want a player that plays well, doesn't hog resources, and isn't cluttered by a convoluted backwards user interface, this is the player for you. To Apollos, regarding my statement about bloatware, it's all personal preference. If you prefer to use a player that uses 3-4x the resources to do the same job, just because it needs to look pretty, don't get foobar. It is NOT the player for you. I run foobar on my old laptop as an mp3 server for my house, not on my main computer for personal listening. I still use Winamp 2.81 for personal listening because of the plug-in system and the general availability of skins, plugins, and other add-ons. (WinAmp 3 is still bloatware, regardless of what anyone says.)

Basically -- If you don't care about how pretty your player is, and you're worried about low resource use and high reliability, use foobar. If you want everything to be pretty and yada yada, use a different player.

    5 stars.

Foobar is altogether too fantastic. I've been searching for a program like this since WinAmp went to bloatware. Small, quick, easily useable, yet it offers the flexibility and advanced features that other players ignore. Also one of the best sounding MP3 players I have ever heard, it shows how well the programmer knows his sound. It's good to see that there are still people that understand that just because a program doesn't have 476,000 features with an internet browser, skinnable interface, and desktop replacement operating system built in, it doesn't make it a bad program. Great program, keep up the great work, I can't wait to see what this guy will program next!

Nevermind.. It worked earlier, but doesn't work anymore....

Good luck! I hope VeriSign gets the pants sued off of them for this..

Reset your Web Settings under Tools -> Internet Options -> Programs -> Reset Web Settings.

I'm not sure how long the reset will last, as no one accepted this change, but it does send you back to the MSN not found pages.
