  1. Review - SpeedFan

    4.34 Beta 34 (Oct 27, 2007)

Don't be ridiculous, would you rather the betas were private and the release tested by 10-100 users rather than thousands?

Great piece of software, very handy for monitoring

  2. Review - Vista Codec Package

    4.4.6 (Jun 15, 2007)

Great package, and Shark007 really goes out of his way to please everyone: to anyone with problems, just post in the msfn topic.

Pixelsmack: as taken from the first post in the topic:
    - If you're having COM_Surrogate errors, remove any Nero products and contact them for support.
The above information also applies to DivX products. If for some reason you have installed XviD on your own other than the version included in this package may also be reason for issues as described above.

However since Shark007 is working to resolve issues with said products anyway you may want to post in the MSFN topic and explain your situation.

  4. Review - K-Lite Codec Pack Update

    02/23/07 (Feb 23, 2007)

What in the world do corrupt downloads have to do with the quality of software? An MD5 hash would be nice, I suppose, but -please-, get a working version and rate the product. Which is awesome, by the way, never had any problems with it. 5 stars.

  5. Review - K-Lite Codec Pack Update

    11/03/06 (Nov 4, 2006)

Point Zero: What do you base this on? If this pack is giving you trouble, why don't you try posting on their forum?

    gate1975mlm: Are you sure?

    Changelog 1.59 -> 1.60 | (2006-11-02)

    - Updated AC3Filter to version 1.11

As for me, I've used this pack for ages and it's always worked fine for me, so I'll give this a 5

  6. Comment - NVidia Demonstrates Platform-Agnostic 3D UI for Cell Phones

    11/03/06 (Feb 15, 2007 - 7:58 AM)

I don't mind the color scheme so much, but the font is definitely fugly, and it looks very chaotic with everything layered like that.. It might look better in motion though...

  7. Comment - Vista Minimum Requirements Unrealistic

    11/03/06 (Dec 9, 2006 - 6:49 AM)

That's probably because higher memory requirements usually means using more tables and whatnot: you've got the whole thing in memory, so the processor doesn't have to work it out on the fly.

  8. Comment - Seagate: The Hard Drive, Reconsidered

    11/03/06 (Nov 24, 2006 - 1:15 PM)

A very good point, and the quote made me laugh; though it may be impossible, what we should be focusing on, as mentioned by others many times, is getting computer laymen to STOP CLICKING ON THE ****ING OK BUTTON. And, well, use some bloody common sense

  9. Comment - Mozilla Firefox 1.0 Finally Arrives

    11/03/06 (Nov 9, 2004 - 10:52 AM)

Use the MOOX optimized builds, people, they're there for the taking ;) ( http://www.moox.ws/tech/mozilla/ )

  10. Comment - Flaw Found in Windows XP SP2

    11/03/06 (Aug 22, 2004 - 10:06 PM)

I think the problem is that people are treating these security flaws like they are bugs, when they are just something the clever programmers at Microsoft didn't think of. If you write a program, making sure it's -bug- free, that doesn't mean there aren't ways it could be exploited. In fact you'll have to secure every feature individually, and -still- keep it bug-free. And no-one can think of everything. This is why companies hire professional crackers: because their programmers just write the protections, it's not their job to find ways into their own software. And even those crackers won't find every flaw, there's always someone else who will think of something new which makes it completely simple to get past all securities already in place. Firefox maybe secure, but the people who programmed it have been able to learn from the usual target: Microsoft. And maybe in putting those securities in place they see new flaws that others didn't see and solve them on the spot.

A program can only be flawless until someone thinks of something new. Nothing more, nothing less.
