1.5.1 Beta Build 453 (May 1, 2006)
How can you make the argument that because the filesize has over-doubled the client is now bloated? That is totally un-called for. When uTorrent was 90kb it barely had any features, it now supports multi-trackers, RSS, proxies, search, and much much more. I wouldn't really consider these features bloat as I use pretty much all of them. The search feature may not be used that often by me but the rest is.
5 (Mar 21, 2006)
imo it's the second best distro in terms of ease of use. I haven't tried Fedora Core 5, but I doubt that it has changed significantly enough to beat Ubuntu which is just great and I prefer the deb packages and apt-get/synaptic instead of the RPMs which kinda suck. Still for n00bs this is a pretty good distro.
0.9 Release Candidate (Updated) (Mar 6, 2006)
uhh I don't nkow how old the version your using is mate, but volume control has been in foobar since I started using it (0.8.2 or 0.8.3) so I don't know wth you're talking about there.
Foobar may be a bit "hardcore" or seem to be, but you don't have to personalise foobar... just install column_ui (to make it look a bit better, the default formatting strings are ok too) and head over to the formating string database (the link should be somewhere on the columns_ui wiki). It has heaps of really cool formating strings ready to download and import - just like a skin.
Personally I don't mind the vast posibilities of customizing foobar, in fact I love it... it allows me to totally adapt foobar to my current VS etc. It's just great!
0.9 Beta 14 (Feb 14, 2006)
I switched to foobar about 1 or 2 years ago and haven't looked back! It's the greatest audio player out there and it had little to no bloat unlike the popular Winamp.
The only drawback of the betas is that many components don't work (but the most important one does - columns_ui :D), I'm sticking to the betas though because the autoplaylist component kicks arse
1.4.1 Beta Build 421 (Feb 10, 2006)
Azureus is the only client that support the Magnet links - they "invented" it (well, first to implement really). uTorrent may have this feature in the future, remember that it's still a very young client. Multiplatform portability is also being worked on, a MacOS version is in development. a Linux version will come after that!
Other Networking features will also be implement since they are major features - I'm not sure why RSS feeds have been implemented before this...
Either way utorrent has a huge future and it will in due time be the #1 BT client, and kicking Azureus's ass!
I don't see how Ludvig is a "fast programmer" and "not efficient". I have yet to code in C++ (I have coded in other languages) but it seems like pretty efficient code on my PC. And in terms of filesize the program is damn efficient... unlike Azureus :|
1.4.1 Beta Build 421 (May 18, 2006 - 3:52 AM)
So opera has less unpatched vulnerabilities... big deal, firefox will patch theirs soon enough. I have never been attacked since using Firefox, and opera just doesn't feel right nor does it have the limiteless extensability of Firefox...
As long as people stop using IE everything will be ok, stop bashing firefox and start bashing IE.
1.4.1 Beta Build 421 (May 18, 2006 - 3:48 AM)
It's quite obvious that Mastertech is just anti-firefox. I don't get that kind of mentality, the bottom line is that IE is the s***test browser out there. I don't care is someone uses Opera or Firefox, I use firefox because it suites me, it's intuitive and I like the interface... sure Opera has it's advantages like having a whole in one suite for those that want it - I just want a minimalistic browser.
Firefox is definitely a good browser and relatively (to IE) secure. Both opera and firefox will have bugs and security flaws like ANY other piece of software. Combined with common sense and Linux it's very hard to actually get affected
1.4.1 Beta Build 421 (May 16, 2006 - 3:30 AM)
What's wrong with Apple? The iPods are actually probably the best MP3 players out there, they look good (or at least clean), they are simple at which Apple is great at. The Creative MP3 players look like crap, all apart from the Zen Xtra are "fat" and just don't look good, I'm not sure about the features but I'm pretty sure that they are worse than iPod's.
I say that this lawsuit is just a cheap shot at getting some money from Apple's product and I hope it doesn't go through because people in the US will be forced to buy an inferior product.
1.4.1 Beta Build 421 (Feb 7, 2006 - 1:51 AM)
Firefox had a BitTorrent extensions before Opera even announced that it will integrate BitTorrent technology into the client. The extensions were in beta though.
1.4.1 Beta Build 421 (Jan 18, 2006 - 1:36 AM)
"Google on Tuesday announced it was opening up Google Talk to all other instant messaging networks that utilize the XMPP protocol, developed for Jabber."
You people do realise that Jabber offers transports which allow you to connect to the popular networks such as MSN, AIM, ICQ, Yahoo etc. That means that you can use jabber to connect to your MSN network AND connect to the Google network.
