Beta 4.1 (Oct 22, 2006)
Pretty slick GUI compared to the competition (Bibble, Nikon Capture, formerly Raw Shooter...) but I don't care much how it looks compared to how it works. I like how Lightroom handles shoots and collections that can make batch processing easy but this makes the program very sluggish when there are a lot of files in a shoot. I also found that sometimes it counts more images in a shoot than there are raw images. The slideshow is a nice feature but a little out of place in a workflow application. All in all...very good for a beta. I can only hope that Adobe won't over-price Lightroom (like they do with Photoshop) when the final version ships.
1.0.0.0 (Mar 26, 2006)
Easy to use program does what it's meant to do and does it fairly well. The program is a little bloated compared to similar backup programs. I noticed that the help file alludes to 2 types of backup that compare files and then copy only the changed or new files when in fact all files are deleted first and then copied again. The former is certainly more efficient than the latter so I can't fathom why the latter was implemented.
0.2.0 Beta (May 9, 2005)
Ran fine for one day then error message "invalid date". Strange error considering it gets the date from Outlook. And now DeskTask 0.2.0 doesn't remember font information or new locations on the desktop unless specifically closed using the menu item to save the data.
