In my opinion, the Mozilla Suite of internet applications ("Web-browser, advanced e-mail and newsgroup client, IRC chat client, and HTML editing made simple -- all your Internet needs in one application") exceeds the stand-alone Firefox (which is a browser only) in a variety of ways.
The Mozilla Suite (all apps) is smaller in overall size and consumes much less memory (RAM): the size of Firefox (browser), Thunderbird (email), Nvu (web page editor), and an IRC program, when all added together are greater in overall size, and if all apps are running together in memory they consume much more memory.
Mozilla Suite also offers a working "Quick Launch" feature which, when enabled, speeds up it's start-up time in opening 'any' of it's apps (browser, mail, etc.). None of the other independent programs mentioned offer this working feature.
However both the Mozilla Suite and Firefox, etc., offer add-ons, called extensions, which when installed offer an increased number of enhancements.
I have and do use both the Mozilla Suite and Firefox & Thunderbird. I say, to each their own.
I am personally looking forward to the upcoming release of the SeaMonkey Suite, an "all-in-one internet application suite" like the present Mozilla Suite, but it will be much improved. However, presently it is still in the alpha stage - i.e., not yet ready for prime time use.
