  1. Review - VMware Server for Windows

    2.0 Build 84186 Beta 2 (Jan 12, 2009)

VMware Server v2 has really gone downhill since v1. The new web interface is very annoying and sluggish. It's really too bad.

  2. Review - VirtualBox

    2.1.0 (Jan 12, 2009)

It installed Windows 7 Beta x64 without too much trouble. You just have to remember to enable VT-x/AMD-V. It works very fast and it has a quite small installation .exe, unlike VMWare Server.

  3. Review - AntiVir Personal Edition for Windows

    8.2.00.337 (Nov 30, 2008)

Very good software that is lighweight and has a high detection rate. It did however have trouble removing a trojan by the name of Win32.TROJAN-AGENT-TDSS. I had to make a virus scan with another system to actually remove it. Nag screens and splash screens are annoying, but they can be easily removed if you know about restricting access to certain .exe. Update download speeds for free users have greatly improved since a few years ago.

  4. Review - 7-Zip (32-bit)

    4.58 Beta (May 28, 2008)

Wonderful software. It offers pretty much everything WinRAR does at the moment, except .RAR archiving because of copyright restrictions. Never had a problem with extracting .RAR archives so far. Deleting, modifying and updating files within an achive (.zip and .7zip) work very well in the latest 4.58 Beta.

  5. Review - Vuze for Windows

    3.0.5.2 Beta (Apr 17, 2008)

A very powerful and flexible software that is highly tweakable. It might seem confusing and clunky at first, but it is a gem. The Vuze can be disabled by switching to the Classic interface, which demands a bit of searching. A bit high on RAM usage, but with a newer computer this is not a problem. The AutoSpeed plugin is the best.
