  1. Review - Winamp 5 Full

    RC 8 (Nov 20, 2003)

Another great release of winamp 5, but I'll be staying with Beta 2 for now.

Why? The media library is totally busted for me. In Beta 2, I let it scan a directory or two with some avi's, just to try it out. Never used the library for anything other then listing NSV streams after that.

I just hit the media library button in RC8, and winamp is trying to run a recovery of my library. It claims there are 34 total items, and the items lost counter never stops. It got to 3 million items lost the first time, before I killed winamp from task manager. Restarted winamp, and the same behaviour.

That, and some of the uDesignit skin is broken :)

  2. Review - PowerDVD

    3.0 Patch (Aug 10, 2001)

whats this patch for (other then the generalized 'bigger, better' statement)? I'm running PowerDVD 3.0 off my Pioneer 105sz DVDrom, and no problems at all. Will this give me anything extra? (maybe something to replace those horrid skins? :)

  3. Review - nVIDIA ForceWare Drivers for Windows 2000/XP (32-bit)

    7.17 (Nov 12, 2000)

I went back to the 6.31 drivers, everything runs excellect again. No more problems, no more random reboots from the advnaced properties. I'm happy.

  4. Review - Advanced Gomoku

    0.99 (Oct 27, 2000)

Alright, but not great. I found it good to be a small timewaster while downloading some stuff, but my TV won out.

  5. Review - FreeAmp for Windows

    2.1 RC2 (Oct 9, 2000)

I was using this player all the way up until RC1, but went back to winamp for one reason: playlist editor. I utterly despise the freeamp playlist editor, compared to winamp's, its too much of a hastle. Can't someone just make an mp3 player thats totally controlable from its playlist editor (like winamp), and skinable like freeamp?

  6. Comment - Philips Readies 8cm eXpanium Beta

    2.1 RC2 (Aug 17, 2001 - 10:22 PM)

    www.pricewatch.com

    storage>media>mini.

they have sony mini discs thrown in there, don't know if thats the same format or not (never bothered with sony mini discs.)

i SOOO hope i get in on this beta. i've refrained from buying a full sized mp3 discman because of the larger size, and never thought about buying flashram based solutions simply because of the cost of the media. this thing would be PERFECT for me.

  8. Comment - Microsoft Yawns at Activation Crack Claims

    2.1 RC2 (Jul 18, 2001 - 11:46 PM)

"The inner, technical workings of product activation in Windows XP may change up until the time we do release the final code," and added, "The steps documented in this article for bypassing product activation in Windows XP will not work on final gold code."

Read As: "Damnit! Uh... we're going to 'fix' that 'feature' right now!"

"Nieman noted that customers who acquire pirated software are ineligible for technical support, product upgrades, and warranty protections."

Read As: "God knows how much of the OS we leave confusing and screwed up just to suck more money out of people."

I can't wait to bring a Windows XP rig to a lan party and end up having to do an emergency format at 2am while I'm jumped up on soda and goofballs.

Oh wait. I'm never going to have an XP rig.

  9. Comment - Sun Attacks Microsoft Over Java Removal

    2.1 RC2 (Jul 18, 2001 - 11:40 PM)

i won't be able to play all those stupid java games that screw up my computer!

    /me cries a river

if microsoft doesn't support it, Sun should just shut up and make a Java plugin for windows (i can already hear them say 'but we don't WANT to do the work, MS should do it FOR US!')

  10. Comment - Apple Places Cube on Ice

    2.1 RC2 (Jul 3, 2001 - 6:16 PM)

Why not focus on making a new, faster Mac, instead of throwing around gimiky designs? *gasp*shock*horror*
