  1. Review - XMPlay

    3.4 (Apr 17, 2007)

Was my favorite player for a long time before I got a 5.1 sound system. Now with 3.4 a DirectSound plugin was released - and that means I will hear my favorite music from all speakers once again. Its very compact, no-nonsense, but all-included. It sticks to playing audio and does it wonderfully. Also looks and skins very well. And media library best of its kind.
VUPlayer was my previous pick, same author.

  2. Comment - BitTorrent Buys uTorrent Application

What about Python? I always liked the original BitTorrent was written in Python, sort of lone fighter in C/++ world.
I use Opera for my torrents anyway...

  3. Comment - Firefox 2.0 vs. IE7 in Vista: How Close?

    3.4 (Oct 26, 2006 - 5:25 AM)

Sad, article was black-and-white, no Opera was even mentioned. I haven't seen either of these two. No reason to try. They can't be faster or more comfortable than Opera. Over the time they acquire all good parts of Opera, or at least try to.
To whoever commenting operas MDI before v6: did you try to open 10 windows in Opera and 10 windows in IE that time? No! Because no sane person would do the latter.
For sake of argument i could ask same question about Current versions of browsers. Can you open 100 tabs and be able to navigate without trouble? How about opening them in one mouseclick?
100 is exaggerated, but I often keep 30-40 tabs open. Launching 10-20 sites from one folder in bookmarks is a regular action.

  4. Comment - Firefox 2.0 to Feature New JavaScript 1.7

Oh, right, Frefox is extensible.. now it whole different way... but do I want that? I spend under 10 minutes setting up Opera to my liking after fresh install. To find and install extensions that give at least same functionality as Opera 9 has... may be impossible. Certainly memory usage isn't a problem nowadays as long as it works fast. And Opera does work fast :)
Firefox has the edge in spread - you can find it in every cafe or linux desktop now. New IE...
