  2. Comment - The Truth About Windows Activation

    1.3 (May 18, 2001 - 10:08 PM)

I see it this way, if Windows XP will be the great OS everyone predicts it to be, then I will buy it (long as it isnt too fricken dear like everything else in AUS) legally and activate it happily with microsoft. (wont bother with office XP since i allready got it cracked and RTM version).

My point is if im getting qaulity software, then i wont mind paying for it and activating it. But i gotta say current activation is getting too much out of hand.

  3. Comment - AOL Marshals Troops Against MS XP Offensive

AOL sucks. Everything they seem to touch just falls to bits. Take a look at Netscape (no one cares anymore bout them) and ICQ (****ing ads galore, now numbers are in decline).

Now look at Microsoft. They make a new OS, new Office suite, new messenger, and keep on doing this stuff every year. updates for the software come out every few weeks.

What it boils down to is this: AOL are ruining the online experiece for everyone. Microsoft arnt. Sure HailStorm might cost $$$, but in the end, you got a much more interactive online experience and new options of what you want to get from the internet. So all in all, if I were Bill Gates, what I would do is simply buy out AOL, and then just send them under and make the company die.

No AOL = A better life for everyone.

  5. Comment - Mozilla Gets Auto-Complete

    1.3 (Apr 24, 2001 - 10:44 PM)

Ever since being bought out by AOL, Netscape browsers and ICQ has been in a downward spiral trend with amount of users actually using their software. Its a REAL shame becuase there was a time a good 5 years ago when Netscape 3-4 was my primary browser. Then it went backrupt (i wonder how since it was provided free anyway) and since then, Netscape failed to release anything that was even worth checking out. Netscape 6 came out with the help of the Mozilla team and well, by the time it was released, it was allready done by microsoft about 6 months to a year beforehand. A good 25% of pages loaded the way they were meant and designed to load, and the browser basically SUCKED. (sorry Mozilla/Netscape). Then ICQ got bought out by AOL, and its been swamped by ads. What was once a GREAT product again, fails to impress anyone anymore because people hear that word "AOL (army of lamers) and know straight away... this product has got to suck.... and they are right. it does. My advice to Netscape and ICQ ppl is this, buy back your companies, or start a new one from fresh. Re-write your software the way you want it written, hire a team of innovatists that will help make the next generation browser and chat software, and then maybe someone can buy out AOL and send them where they belong, 6 ft underground.

As for mozilla, while your doing great work, the autocomplete has been around for like 3 years now. You guys designed the browser from scratch yes? well why isnt there anything new? Really guys, u cant compete without something new, innovative and funky. Hell if need be ill design yas a damn browser and give u ideas for features.

  6. Comment - Advertisements in ICQ Messages?

    1.3 (Mar 15, 2001 - 5:03 AM)

sure, there big, bloody annoying to see, but, who would ever click a link that is ever displayed? i personally think web advertising doesnt work. I personally have patched ICQ to stop displaying the dumb ads, and i plan to keep it that way. but ICQ, if you keep the ads, and make it so u cant remove them, i will stop using your product. not that its a horrible product, but because AOL is a horrible ISP, and a AOL future internet is one i dont want to see.
