  1. Review - AllMyNotes Organizer

    1.21 (Feb 7, 2010)

Regardless of what you think, the free version of this is but a crippled version of note's free version. Don't believe me read this!
    http://www.vladonai.com/...nk_compare_editions.php
    no read only mode
    no icons
    no caption coloring
    no checkboxes
    no caption bolding
    no prioritizing
    no hyperlinking
no image support or import ability
    no file attachments
no global search or filtering thereof
    no passwording ability
    no print preview
    no automatic backup
Anything left can be done with windows notepad-pfff
Try RedNotebook from sourceforge. It works on all platforms in 16 different languages.

BTW shooting down software because of .NET is retarded. Like saying, why do I need drivers to put my video card in? wahh!
I have nothing against this software at ALL. It looks WONDERFUL! I don't have the money to unlock it or I might rate it much higher. Simple fact is, a "free" CRIPPLED piece of software is less than worthless to me. False advertizing at it's finest to be sure.

  2. Review - Xinorbis

    4.2.6a (Feb 5, 2010)

The portable version of this works nicely for detailed analysis with reports in multiple formats. Disable history and default to table view and it will play nice. Compresses down to 5.14 MB after use (sans history).
The other two progs mentioned one is $30 and the other has nothing to do with simple disc analysis.
    Try file menu tools.

It's free and will display pie charts directly from context menu. Great little tool that

  3. Review - UltraDefrag

    4.0 (Feb 4, 2010)

The only gripe is when optimizing and you click stop it does nada. I did however perform a hard reset while optimizing a slave drive (don't ask) and there was no problem after booting.
Defrag is fast but optimize can be slow on drives with lots of data.
My c drive has only 9GB of data and optimizing was fast.

  4. Review - WinMerge

    2.13.11 Experimental (Feb 4, 2010)

As a very nice alternative try Diffuse from sourceforge (python).
    http://diffuse.sourceforge.net/
It works with files only & is very simple to use.
Excuse the horodruin ref. It is a folder type sync ap for which I would probably use over this. Not a fan of the gui here.

  5. Review - Opera (v10.5) for Windows

    10.50 Build 3218 Pre-Alpha (Feb 3, 2010)

Profile creator gave me MAJOR issues with updating as I always run the second profile shortcut to enable multiple instances.
HIGHLY recommend to update from the stabile release as just had a website crash my pc (out of memory with NO page file atm) because of a javascript/plugin error. That was not the first opera webpage rendering issue, but was the first issue (in 10101893) to cause me to hard reset the pc. Main menu is now in a compacted state (toolbar drop down button) which is cool but the background it uses is lame. Looks like the opera icon but cut in half.
oh yeah. That webpage works fine now

  6. Comment - Yahoo Music Joins iTunes in Japan

    10.50 Build 3218 Pre-Alpha (Aug 22, 2005 - 4:21 PM)

what a joke. a single song is less than worthless & so is jumping on the ipod/itunes band wagon. ipod's are special in that they are overpriced & underfeatured

  7. Comment - Mozilla Seeking Thunderbird Testers

    10.50 Build 3218 Pre-Alpha (Aug 22, 2005 - 4:18 PM)

I use deer park (firefox nightly) & ONLY use tbird with gmail as my one & only email account. I would no more use outlook (deleted) than I would pay for an xp pro disc. Tbird has never failed me for any reason & is very easy to setup. Anyone who argues over which email client to use needs to get a life and quit playing with their cell phone. I can't stand email but it is a required item in the modern world.
