  1. Review - FileZilla v3 for Windows

    2.2.5a (Apr 5, 2004)

This is about the only FTP software I need. I have only had minor issues with it and as FREEWARE, it's an outstanding program!

  2. Review - Central Brain Identifier

    7.0.0.0 Beta Build 0330 (Mar 31, 2004)

Their web site has "Sorry, an Internal Error occurred." and "file is not found" all over it.. that plus the last few reviews says this program probably isn't the best thing to install on my system. I don't usually rate a program that I haven't actually installed, this is the exception. If they can't run a web site and handle errors a little better, they shouldn't release their program.

  3. Review - OpenOffice.org for Windows

    1.1.1rc3 (Mar 21, 2004)

Downloaded, installed, and uninstalled this program today. It is as expected, fine. Using Spybot-S&D to clean up my system, then installing and uninstalling this program, still no spyware after this. Big surprise there. Anyway, the install was fine, I don't have a JRE on my system, so some functions are unavailable. Since I didn't do a lot of testing, don't really know what functionality is lost. In any event, it's free and it seems functional. Good suite I guess. Oh yeah, the sky is falling, the sky is falling.

  4. Review - Ad-Aware

    6.0 Build 162 (Feb 9, 2003)

I don't like that they took away some GOOD features from the previous FREE version and plopped them into the PRO version! I still like the application, but I can see it going the way of powerarchiver.. :( another x-free app that I no longer use ):

  5. Review - Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Security Tools

    8.00.0194 Beta (Feb 9, 2003)

man, this is a bit late. a little faster please next time ms! It seems to me that everyone who would have, or could have, been hit by slammer would have (at least should have) already patched!

  6. Comment - Microsoft Shows Off 'Athens' PC Prototype

    8.00.0194 Beta (May 6, 2003 - 9:57 PM)

I like this new UPGRADED computer. I think we need to move ahead with the technology we have and work on bringing additional useful technology to our desktops. Again, this is a good step forward. Forget the mac/pc argument. It's as useless to debate as the linux/windows discussions, for how they relate to the future only time will tell. This hardware by MS and HP is NOW, and it's a great step forward.

  7. Comment - HP, Compaq to Merge in $25 Billion Deal

    8.00.0194 Beta (Sep 6, 2001 - 9:17 AM)

I really hope what happened to the digital servers doesn't happen to the proliant servers. When Compaq swallowed digital, the support just disappeared. Now that HP has engulfed Compaq, I hope their support for Proliant servers doesn't vanish. We have a server room full of 8000's, 7000's, 5500's, ML570's, etc... If support were to vanish, we'd be up the creek. Also, consider this, what if they stopped making parts for the Compaq servers. I'm not too concerned with workstation lines because they typically have a 3 year life anyway, but our servers may have to run a little longer than 3 years :). (no time to proof this, must get back to work).

  8. Comment - Network Solutions to Sell Domain Database Information

    8.00.0194 Beta (Feb 20, 2001 - 7:21 PM)

So, if they're selling "the" database, does that mean their customers or the entire whois database? So now there's going to be a real need to go to a private company who will register for you and maintain your records so your info is private. Of course, there will be a charge for doing this.. how freaking annoying! OK, or we can register domains from private registrars that promise privacy. It's bad enough they make money off of storing registration information, much less start selling the information. I could go on and on about how annoying this is. It's very annoying!

  9. Comment - Its Official - Dreamcast No More

    8.00.0194 Beta (Jan 31, 2001 - 10:12 PM)

Well, remember when Microsoft denied on their official sites, any rumors that their X-Box would support Dreamcast games? Well, um, guess what? The X-Box will support Dreamcast games now. Ok, so that's not an official quote, but lets wait and see what happens now.

  10. Comment - IBM To Fight Illegal Music Distribution

    8.00.0194 Beta (Jan 23, 2001 - 7:34 PM)

"could work with systems that store music files on thousands of PCs" ------- So they want to embed this new technology in their hard drives. Ok, we all start (continue) to buy other brands of hard drives. ------- NEXT -------"'superdistribution,' pioneered by such companies as InterTrust Technologies Corp., which locks a song, awaiting payment, after it is played a certain number of times for free." ------- In that case, the songs that are distributed with no intent to buy, as napster users do, simply don't distribute those files, they continue to copy and distribute.. if not napster, than any other freeware file distribution software. ------- THE END OF FREE MUSIC? I don't see that happening. Software piracy is illegal, but there's always been WAREZ! IBM is trying to make the news so they can get some publicity. Just my 2¢.
