  1. Review - TightVNC for Windows

    1.3.10 (Mar 10, 2009)

Reverb you must have done extensive research to reach that conclusion.
Or your excitement over this piece of software is greater than your sense of reality.

  2. Review - Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit

    Beta (Jan 10, 2009)

I was reluctant at first but finally I have decided to backup everything and give it a try. Also I expected to reinstall XP after 5 minutes Windows 7 surprised me by having installed drivers for every device (even for the notebook's web cam) except the card reader and the video card. The Vista drivers for those devices did the job.
I found it very useful to replace the quick launch with Windows 7 search feature: pressing Win key launches the start menu with the search field activated; properly configured this tool makes the quick launch obsolete (this is very similar to Launchy or Find and Run applications).
The system is very responsive and does a good job managing the available memory. All my "Windows XP" applications are running smoothly I had no trouble installing and configuring them. Wireless connection is stable and so the configured office VPN connection.
But not all is well (maybe that's why it's called beta).
I advise you to activate and switch to the administrator account after installation. Not all the programs will install with the normal user account (Office 2007 is one of them) and not all programs will uninstall (AVG is one of those).
Daemon tools is also not working but it is successfully substituted by Virtual Clone Drive.
Even at this stage I have decided to make it my primary OS and I will not switch back to XP.
These are the things I can tell you about Windows 7 after 6 hours of testing.
I have to add that I was one of those guy who considered Vista a big disappointment but Windows 7 is indeed an improvement.

  3. Review - Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows XP

    8.0 Beta 1 (Mar 6, 2008)

I have tried it but on opening some pages it crashes. Also there's a problem accessing some sites which require IE7 or Firefox (IE8 is not recognized as a valid browser and I find it inconvenient to click IE7 mode button when that happends). Personally I think Microsoft did a good job but there's a lot of work still to be done.
I use IE7 and I think it's the one of the best browsers (you need IE7Pro to make it a good browser). I've tested a lot of browsers on a slower machine and IE7 was the one that perfomed best.

  4. Review - Rainlendar Lite for Windows

    2.1 Build 35 Beta (Mar 21, 2007)

I'm using version 0.22 and I like the fact that it work with ics calendars - alarms an all - (imported from google calendar). When I tried 2.x versions of this application none of them worked properly with ics calendars.
So, at least from this point of view, this version sucks.
