  1. Review - DivX for Windows

    7.0.0 (Jan 6, 2009)

DivX 7 is just another new format. Had they used the MP4 container it would at least have been compatible with Flash and all the mobile phones and devices already MP4-aware. I guess that wasn't their intention.

They should have left the idiotic skins for their converter, player etc away. The entire suit looks like apps were 6 years ago.

Having to install a special webplayer is an anachronism in 2009. Do they really think anyone will choose DivX over Flash or Silverlight for webmovies?

    DivX, please die quick!

  2. Review - Adobe Reader for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/2008

    9.0 (Jul 2, 2008)

Indeed noticeably faster than v8. Integration with Acrobat.com could turn out useful in the future.

  3. Review - Skype for Windows

  5. Review - Nokia PC Suite

    6.86.8.4 (Mar 30, 2008)

    B-L-O-A-T

I absolutely don't need this program. I use Broadcom Bluetooth to use my phone as a modem and to transfer files. To backup/edit/sync calendar, contacts etc I use mobical.net.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the interface looks s***ty.

  6. Comment - Adobe releases AIR 2 and Flash Player 10.1 betas

    6.86.8.4 (Nov 18, 2009 - 8:56 AM)

Intels GMA500 is not supported in this version. What a disappointment. Devices with that chip need accelerated Flash the most.

  7. Comment - Microsoft's 'Have it Your Way' confronts Apple's 'Have it Our Way'

    6.86.8.4 (Oct 27, 2009 - 8:15 AM)

Apples best days as a computer maker may have already past. Windows 7 with the constant flow of new exciting PC hardware is way more sexy than Apples once a year update to its aluminium bricks. I'd never buy a Mac now that Windows 7 is out.

  8. Comment - Why is John Hodgman smiling? Data loss isn't the only Snow Leopard problem

Are there any hints at when Microsoft might release a feature update for IE8 (I mean IE 8.5 or 9)? What do you think when it will happen?

  9. Comment - One week later, it's time for Firefox 3.0.10

    6.86.8.4 (Apr 28, 2009 - 8:29 AM)

I wonder whether they'll managed to release 3.5 this year. Now we have the Beta 4. Next are RC1, RC2 etc with a month or two between each release. Their other projects like Mesh and Fennec don't get off the ground either.

    IMO it'll be 2010.

  10. Comment - Can Mozilla escape a premature endgame for Firefox?

    6.86.8.4 (Mar 22, 2009 - 3:51 AM)

Firefox 3.5 is said to come out in 3 months. By that time Chrome 2.0 will be out with add-on support ("by May") and RSS-awareness. Chrome will be superslick like everything from Google.

    Firefox is done.
