  1. Review - FBackup

    4.2.150 (Jul 31, 2009)

    o Easy and non-invasive installation.
o very tidy and simple interface
o smart interface eg advanced and basic modes of backup.
o backups and restore work as desired
o a huge advantage of this program is it offers shadow backup
o gave it a 4 originally because it failed on large destination with error 'There is not enough space on the disk' , but have downgraded because it does not do differential or incremental backups which IMHO are a prerequisite.

  2. Review - AutoVer

    1.2.2 (Jul 30, 2009)

o Not too impressed with installation as it did not allow user to select desired install directory. Not a biggie, but its unusual and preferable to allow user to determine desired directory.
o Impressed with program size compared to others very compact but still functional interface.
o Very useful for programmers or writers who want to keep many versions of the same file for backwards referral.
o Not intuitive to use, but the target audience eg programmers would find no problem with its methods.
o Not to be confused with a backup program - this is a VERSIONING program.

  3. Review - GFI Backup

    2009 (Jul 30, 2009)

You need to register to get this download which is annoying but the result:
o Professional onsite demonstration of features.
o Software installation scary quote 'RIGHT TO "CALL HOME": OPT-OUT The Product will automatically contact GFI Software if and when any of the following events occur: (i) the Product is successfully installed by you; (ii)you fail to install the Product successfully; (iii)the Product has been successfully configured; ' etc
o Verdict is not out on this yet. Here is a url you can use to get around the download registration: http://www.softpedia.com...on-Download-129022.html

  4. Review - The Bat! Professional

    2.10.03 (May 1, 2004)

I got TheBat! a few years back and it had a few bugs, but had good tech support so was good enough for me to buy. Now what they do is fix (or attempt to fix) a bunch of bugs then re-release it as a new version (still with bugs) and charge their customers more for an upgrade. They dont seem to take any interest in bug reports from users any more. It is mostly a good email program and I would give it 5 if they fixed up their bugs, or even seemed to care about tech support.
