  1. Review - FreeI

    2.65 (Jun 30, 2000)

I've tried this program in Win 2000 and it makes a direct dial connection instead of a modem dial-up connection. I haven't tried this new version, but something tells me it probably hasn't been fixed. Go with either FreeWWWeb or NetZero. (FreeWWWeb has no banners or anything!)

  2. Review - AquilineWeb 2000

    1.1.4 (Jun 2, 2000)

If their web site is any indication of what their browser is like, it must stink. Here's a quote on their home page:
"You should find all the information that you're looking for about AquilineWeb right on this web site." Well, duh! And when you try to get some info, they tell you there's more coming soon!! What a joke..

  3. Comment - Microsoft posts videos of users who liked Vista after thinking it was new OS

    1.1.4 (Jul 31, 2008 - 8:45 AM)

"You're just an ignorant fool and you're stupid for not liking Windows Vista."

Is that any different from you for telling everyone just because you have a computer and Internet connection that...
"You're just an ignorant fool and you're stupid for liking Windows Vista."

  4. Comment - Is Vista dead in the water?

    1.1.4 (Apr 15, 2008 - 9:08 AM)

I know you're wrong. Vista is not the next generation Millenium Edition; that was a piece of junk built on the 95/98 kernel. Vista is completely new from the ground up. And elaborate on how it's flawed? I work with it every day and have no problems at all.

  5. Comment - Is Vista dead in the water?

Well, i have a Athlon 64 3000+ CPU (not dual-core) with 2 GB of RAM and Vista x64 Business and with a modest Nvidia GeForce 8400GS PCIx video card with only 256 RAM, and Vista smokes on it.
Yes, Vista does put more power to better use, but 4 GB of RAM isn't that necessary. And it's somewhat foolish if you're running 32-bit Windows.

  6. Comment - Windows XP's final day still June 30, but low-cost PCs get two more years

    1.1.4 (Apr 3, 2008 - 4:44 PM)

This seems reasonable. For a software company to sell an OS for nearly 7 years (and 1.5 years after it successor is released) doesn't seem like such a disturbing move that people need to petition for its continued sale to OEMs and retail stores. What other software from late 2001 can you find in most computer stores?

  7. Comment - Visual Studio 2008, .NET 3.5 to Be Released This Month, Launched Later

    1.1.4 (Nov 5, 2007 - 1:36 PM)

Yeah, why can't all apps that work in XP also work in Windows 3.11? Full backwards compatability is unnecessary. That's like car manufacturers making cars that run on unleaded gasoline also able to run on leaded. Because, hey, "serious" cars run on leaded gas! .NET is here, and it's not bad just because Microsoft came up with it. And how do you know that big-companies developers won't touch .net? Have you talked to all of them?
