  1. Review - VerificationEngine

    2.1.0.8 (Jul 10, 2006)

A must have! Works with IE and FF - Opera coming soon, according to the forums. Simple, effective and now my mum can see if a banking site is real or not and stop pestering me! LOL

    Good job Comodo.

  2. Review - Comodo BackUp

    1.0.0.0 (Jul 10, 2006)

Nice freeware backup app. One feature I really like is that it can write a backup as a session to a CD-R - not just to CD-RW.

It does what it says, plays nicely with AV and other security softwares and the support is excellent.

  3. Review - Comodo Firewall Pro

    2.2.0.11 (Jul 10, 2006)

NIKNET : It is free. No license fee, no upsell to pro version, no nothing!

Yes you have to activate it with the free license string sent to the emaill address you used when you downloaded it, but this activation merely convert the license from trial to lifetime.

Even if you don't activate it, it will still work beyond the trial period but you get the activation window every time it starts.

What makes you think its not free?

The main reason for CPF runing slowly is the "Secure host while booting" setting was enabled by default. This setting is set to OFF in the latest beta release (V2.3.0.19). This latest version also has a high performance mode and has a much smaller footprint. The beta also has Comodo's own installer/uninstaller, which overcomes the problems found with the InstallShield routines used in previous versions.

BOBAD - "Although it's huge for a firewall, the memory footprint is not too bad. A few dislikes: Tray icon menu to turn firewall On, Off, and Custom should be top level, not a submenu. "

Comodo are aware that the memory footprint is still too big and they are addressing the issue. Re. the launchpad icon, this is subject to a debate on the forums at the moment as to whether users would prefer individual tray icons of an aggregated one like now. Go to forums.comodo.com and give them your opinion.

  4. Review - Comodo Antivirus

    1.1 Beta (Jul 10, 2006)

Nice AV. It's still a bit slow in scanning, but does do a thorough scan. Comodo are working on integrating AntiSpyware defs into the scanning database and update the app very, very regularly.

Clean interface design, logical layout and configurable enough to satisfy most users (IMHO).

It's not quite ready for prime time, but it's not that far off.

  5. Review - F-Secure BlackLight

    2.2.1037 Beta (May 31, 2006)

    Hey C4p0ne,

"because of what I call the "moron factor". AKA various levels of incompetance mixed with utter computer illiteracy to become pwn3d by something like that to begin with. "

Moron factor? Spell "incompetence" for me, will you! ROFLMFHO!!!

Much better to remain tightlipped and have people think you are a fool, than to speak up and remove all doubt.

Please continue to scurry down the dark side of computing. You would only drag down the average if you came out into the grown up world.

    Thanks for the laugh!
