  1. Review - RealPlayer for Windows

    11.0.0.477 (Nov 7, 2008)

Disgraceful piece of trash. It keeps trying to contact Real Networks servers to send back info about me (nowhere does it tell me exactly what).
I can see this by running on the windows command line netstat.exe

It crashes every time I shut it down. It adds crapware to my list of Start up apps whether configure it to or not. (see this by running msconfig.exe then going to the Start up tab)

It keeps trying to sell me "services" when all I want to do is view my files.

This is garbage-ware of the highest order. Avoid. Use the program "Real Alternative" instead. (google it)

  2. Review - Miranda IM

    0.8.0 Test Build 18 (Jul 12, 2008)

Uses far less system resources than Pidgin or Trillian and just as functional.

As for the comments saying its "butt ugly", that's your fault as its appearance can be configured extensively.

  3. Review - FileZilla Portable

    3.0.11.1 (Jul 10, 2008)

Filezilla is an excellent application. The Portable-ized version is also excellent. Thank you to the Filezilla devs and the PortalApps guys for this.

  4. Review - Opera for Windows

    9.51 Build 10080 RC2 (Jun 30, 2008)

    @nms04,
As Opera is one of the most standards compliant browsers around I would hazard a guess that the fault lies with the MySpace site developers. To dock Opera a point because of this proves that you are clueless when it come to the web. (That fact that you use MySpace at all also gives this away.)

  5. Review - Bone 2

    1.0 (Jun 19, 2008)

"Take drugs to fight Nerds in infinate space, Purchase and unlock the scooter"

5/5 for this magnificent prose alone.

  6. Comment - New Microsoft support for jQuery makes part of its platform open source

    1.0 (Oct 1, 2008 - 5:42 AM)

Hmmm didn't Microsoft "embrace" Java once too? (Creating the headless corpse that is now J++) It was part of their "Embrace, Extend and Corrupt" policy towards competition.

My advice to all involved with the maintenance of jQuery is don't get too close to MS, and definitely NEVER rely on them for anything.
