   Review - TuneUp Utilities 2010

   9.0.2000.16 (Oct 31, 2009)

   This was probably released because the 2009 vrsion didn't work on Windows 7. If I was still using Vista or XP I wouldn't bother.
   I have had no problem with registry cleaning except in the case of 1 program which also other reg cleaners erased the same entries, but TU Utilitiest can be set to ignore registry entries

   This program is okay and forms part if the 1ClickDVD family but I think this program its a bit lacking considering the price. There isn't a CD-Text option and (unless something has recently changed) there is no option to verify data. I think there arte better options out there

   Who knows if this program works or not. You need to go through so much BS to install it I got frustrated with it. Their login supplied password didn't work. When I asked for a new login passoword it said my e-mail (which they sent to twice) was not in their database. You even have to enter a code to contact support. Personally I have no time for this nonsense

   Review - TrueCrypt

   5.1a (May 21, 2008)

   I never had any problems with TC Drive Encryption prior to SP3 but since I installed SP3 I have had three occurences where Windows XP would not load after entering the password. It appeared to start to load (the Windows logo would come up) then the computer rebooted itself.
   One occured immediately after unistalling a program that required a reboot. Another time was after a Windows update (after SP3 installed) that also required a shutdown then startup. The other just happened.
   These failures occured a few days apartt. I have now ditched TC for the time being as I have lost confidence in it
   
   Fortunately I have a system recovery disk and Acronis True Image which enabled me to be up and running in less than an hour.

   Review - TrueCrypt

   4.2a (Feb 9, 2007)

   I have come across a problem with this software. I encrypted a USB drive (which is never removed) as an encrypted `device' and mounted it and set is as `favorite'. Several times I was unable to mount it on boot up. I found that the problem was caused if I had left another USB card connected to the computer or an external harddrive (neither encrypted). When I set up the original encrypted device it was Disk 3 / Partition 0 (Drive K) but if I left these other devices connected I found on boot up that Disk 3 now became Disk 4 (still Drive K) but TrueCrypt didn't know it had changed. I don't know if creating a file inside Drive K will prevent the problem

   Typical of Microsoft to charge Can$199. At current exchange it should be Can$163. But I suppose it's the cost of shipping those heavy boxes of software all the way up in to Canada from Washington state - I guess I'll buy in the US

   What a stupid article. It's like saying Lockheed Martin has 90% of fighter aircraft sales for aircraft over $30B each or Ferrari has 90% of car sales over $900,000 each - who cares if the product you are selling puts you in the highest price category

   I bought an ipod nano because I needed to be able to listen to audio books, many of the mp3 players don't support them. Sandisk e140 does but it appears not this model or any 200 series

   I have used Opera on and off for a number of years and recently tried Firefox (and Netscape 8). I eventually decided to dump both Firefox and Netscape 8(it's bloated)in favor of Opera. One area Opera excels is in form filling on web pages. Both Firefox and Netscape choke on remembered forms at some web sites.
   Firefox is free. Opera costs (or is adaware - oh scary). I suspect that is why more people prefer Firefox. Why use either, perhaps because of IE security woes and it's also old - people like change
