jkamon... if Apple would license AAC to other companies then Yahoo/Real/Napster would support it.
In terms of the $60 yearly fee you complain about, I know people who pay that much per month for cable tv and they have to watch what is on at the time. Imagine if they could watch any show ever made at anytime.
You don't need to burn CDs if all the songs you like are instantly accessible. In the same respect, once cars support hook-ups to portable players or you can stream from satellite, access to music anytime anywhere will be the norm.
Fact is, of all my CDs, I maybe want permanent, physical copies of the top 10%. Everything else, I'm ok with renting on the go. Same with DVDs - after I bought the 15 or so I really want to keep forever, I use NetFlix for the rest.

In user testing, Microsoft found that nine out of every 10 features that customers wanted to see added to Office were already in the program.

I hate all the bloated IBM software that Thinkpad's come with and download. It has seriously slowed down a decent XP laptop. Why oh why can't they use the native software??!!!
