ok, let's look at the possible outcome of this in the gaming industry only.
if microsoft and nintendo wants hd capabilities, and since hd dvd is down, then both microsoft and nintendo will have to pay yearly license fees to sony for blu-ray. that could make sony an absolute monopoly in the gaming industry.
ouch... this is really nasty.

apple definetelly has some great products. but when the iphone was released i was dissapointed that such a innovation was somewhat primitive in not incorporating 3g. in eu, 3g has been standard for many years, and no wonder apple is heavily criticized in that market.

in high-tech nothing lasts more than 6 months. amd's latest release reveals that they have quite a bit of homework to do.

in high tech, a new product today will be ancient history within 2 months.
so, "smarterthatyou" this is a battle between intel & amd. do you live on planet amd?
"domino360" has a point. 3 cores will be cheaper than 4 cores (regardless how good they are). financially amd is already in a 6ft hole. can amd really afford a lengthy bloody price battle with intel?
novice consumers (75%) are easily brainwashed by numbers. so, 3 doesn't better than 4. this is a huge gamble for amd, and something of a joke even to the chinese.

there are sooooooooo many egos at amd, i don't know where to start.
