  1. Review - MediaMonkey

    3.0.0.1034 Alpha 4 (Jun 13, 2007)

    Rojer is correct.

By the way, this is an Alpha version. Users wanting stability and polish should use the 2.5.5 version for now.

  2. Review - Recuva

    1.01.062 Beta (Apr 28, 2007)

This program seems useful to me. A well written, useful, freeware app is always welcome on the scene.

There still seem to be some problems with scans stopping before completion or crashing, but I will keep a watchful eye. 203kb is quite impressive!

Shodan. Writing a 1 star review without explanation of what is wrong with the program is infuriating and obnoxious. Try giving some feedback on the actual program.

  3. Review - µTorrent for Windows

    1.6.1 Build 489 (Feb 15, 2007)

The string of 1-star reviews that come in a 3-4 review chunk all seem to be written by the same person, you can see this by the writing style and the similar words used in each review.

I've downloaded the latest build. All seems as normal. My "illegal" torrents still download and upload just fine. Oh noes!

If utorrent turns out to become the devil, okay, I will accept it when I see some evidence, until then, please do not spread misinformation or lies. [this goes to the string of 1 star reviews claiming that this program is immediately broken upon download and is buggy as hell, simply ludicrous. You can't even tell the difference between this and the last build [and thats a GOOD thing]

I really pity people who spread FUD and lies without any *actual* proof!

  4. Review - MediaMonkey

    2.5.3.968 RC4 (Jun 5, 2006)

This program is better than winamp, itunes, foobar, etc, [in my humble opinion]. It really does do it all without getting in your face or being hard to use.

Organize your files and play them like Itunes, burn to CD, RIP from CD, etc...without being bloated or complex.

It plays all files, [FLAC, OGG, MP3, WAV, ETC] the only thing I found that it doesn't seem to play are AAC files.

If I had one feature request it would be to support shoutcast streaming, then I'd have no reason to load up winamp, ever!

  5. Review - µTorrent for Windows

    1.5 Build 437 (Mar 8, 2006)

Excellent App. The new standard for torrent clients. Elegant, efficient, low profile, easy to use, compatible. Supports encryption. Need I say more?

pdh - the client is not faulty. your computer is. I suggest you look to any anti-virus software as the potential culprit. As it stands, your BSOD's are the fault on your end, not Utorrent - which is known for remarkable stability.

  6. Comment - Performing artists not seeing money from file sharing settlements

    1.5 Build 437 (Mar 2, 2008 - 7:51 AM)

"Artists' lawyers typically made four times more than an individual band member, and a producer could make as much as twenty times what the artist made for the same product."

The biggest reason piracy ever existed, and why it will never be stopped.

  7. Comment - Google gives phone numbers to San Francisco's homeless

    1.5 Build 437 (Mar 2, 2008 - 7:45 AM)

"Is it just me or the only way to become homeless in America is by choice? The homeless I see around seem perfectly happy. (Drunk/high, but at least nobody is hungry.)"

Well, I think if you looked at the personal cases of many homeless people- you would see that mental illness plays a disturbingly large role. You can argue about chicken and egg theories about why people are homeless, but until you've been there yourself I would find it very unclassy of you to judge. Most people including most of us posting here have the luxury of living in a first world nation where food is plentiful, but lets not forget that even in paradise, you can be born with bipolar disorder, you can be scarred physically and emotionally in horrible accidents, or even worse, be harmed by someone intentionally. You really need to look deeper into things than to assume that all homeless people are simply lazy drunkards.

While it may seem like "Angel PR" to some people for a company like Google to be doing this, I think it's a valuable case to be made for technology enabling people with OPPORTUNITIES to join the work force, enabling them to save money, then hopefully get their own residence. With a residence comes a REAL telephone if you can afford the bill, a mailbox where you can have important papers sent, and this is an entrance back into "normal life". Encouraging this will enable people to come back into the economy, creating jobs, or at least the potential for them. That's a good thing.

Judging homeless people is pointless and does nothing to improve the scenario or conditions that can exacerbate the negative cycle we often see develop.

  8. Comment - Nokia unveils another fashion phone

    1.5 Build 437 (Jan 24, 2008 - 2:13 AM)

Uh...wow. Someone at Nokia design needs some serious reining in.

  9. Comment - Stringer: Apple's Jobs is "Greedy"

    1.5 Build 437 (Jul 22, 2007 - 6:38 PM)

Whenever looking at criticism, it is valuable to look at who is offering up the critique in the first place. In this case, with someone from Sony offering up those comments, I can only laugh endlessly.

  10. Comment - Microsoft Slashes Xbox 360 Sales Estimates

    1.5 Build 437 (Jan 27, 2007 - 6:25 AM)

    First of all.

A newer revision may or may not be announced, but people were excited about a CPU die shrink, meaning a cooler system, meaning perhaps a quieter system. a 120 gig drive and an HDMI port for people with newer HDTV's etc.

Now, as to your working retail, and getting into pissing matches with your customers, well, no wonder you don't work retail any more, the store is most likely better off without your kind scaring customers off :)
