  1. Review - RSSOwl for Windows

    1.1.3 Preview (Jul 9, 2005)

RSSOwl is a clean, nice and free little news feed application. The developers have paid a lot of attention to details and the bugs get fixed quickly. It is written with the SWT library so it has the native look and feel of the operating system you are using, despite being written in Java. I highly recommend this to everybody.

  2. Review - Vuze for Windows

    2.2.0.3 Beta 34 (Feb 23, 2005)

This is a really good Bit Torrent client. One of the best clients out there. I've been using this for a while. It is a bit slow, since it was written in Java, but all the features compensate for its slowness. Give it a try, you'll like it.

  3. Review - Win32Pad

    1.5.7 (Dec 8, 2004)

This is a small and fast text editor. It doesn't have syntax highlighting, but it is useful. Some of the features seem to be pick right out of Metapad (http://www.liquidninja.com/metapad/. Also it does not support Windows XP's visual styles. But overall it's a good little notepad replacement.

The "programmers" can always use Notepad2 (http://www.flos-freeware.ch/notepad2.html). It is one of the fastes text editors out that has a lot more features than notepad and even Win32Pad. It also has syntax highlighting for numerous languages and scripts.

  4. Review - Mozilla Thunderbird for Windows

    0.9 (Nov 7, 2004)

One of the best email clients I have tried. A little buggy, but since it's a beta I can't expect more. I can't wait for the version 1 to be released.

"...it becomes apparent that every time the site experiences a service disruption, users are left stranded."

No s**t Sherlock! Say it ain't so!

I don't care for Twitter, but that line right there shows excellent reporting and analytical skills.

  7. Comment - Microsoft Cancels Patch Tuesday

    0.9 (Sep 9, 2005 - 5:54 PM)

So now they will be releasing a patch that fixes a patch that was supposed to fix some other flaw. Nice going MS! Now even the patches have bugs. That is just great innovation comming from Micosoft. I mean who can think of buggy patches, huh?

  8. Comment - The Truth About Windows Genuine Advantage

    0.9 (May 13, 2005 - 8:14 PM)

I am sick and tired of Microsoft shoving crap like this down our troth and calling it a "benefit." When I paid to get my system it came with Windows and the vendor was not offering any other operating systems (because Microsoft would rip them a new one if they did so) so I trusted my number one vendor to have a genuine product on my system. If there is a flaw in any of this I should not be affected at all. Microsoft wants to save money by stopping the illegal copies of Windows getting the updates. They are doing this by inconveniencing me. I don't care if they say there are benefits. We all know there are no benefits at all. This is just a scam. I'm just going to switch to an alternative operating system. Most of the alternative operating systems are either as good as Windows or better.
